I have enjoyed reading everyone's forums, they really help. Please don't judge me, I have dug my hole and now have to live the consequences.

I have been married and with the same man for 11 years. We had gotten pregnant this summer and I had an abortion. After the abortion I didn't feel right, I was really sore, red, discharge and felt bumps. I have had an abortion in the past and this was not the same. A month later during menstration I felt another bump. Me and my husband looked at it, but didn't think anything of it. I did an STD check up but they never tested for herpes. Recently, I also had a 1 month affair with a co-worker which we engaged in sex twice. We used protection both times and I didn't notice any bumps on him. My husband found out and we both decided it would be wise to get a full blown STD check up since we were going to try to work it out.

Well, our results came back yesterday and I have herpes symplex 1 and 2 and my husband has herpes symplex 1. Can it be possible I got it from the abortion clinic or would it have to be definately from the person I had the affair with? I am devasted with regret and remorse, I wish I were dead. This is so hard to get a grasp of. I feel like I ruined our whole lives. Please help!

You life is not ruined... herpes won't kill you... just annoy you...

I am not sure about getting it at the clinic... doesn't seem possible... more than likely you had never had an outbreak that could be noticed...

I got herpes from a guy I was with over 2 years ago... I have never had an outbreak that I am aware of.... yet I test positive for HSV2... my doc says I could be having outbreaks inside and not even notice them...

with that being said... it is hard to say where you got it or from who.... either one of you could have had it for years and not known.... do you know if the affair guy has been tested??

don't beat yourself up over it... just know that it is a part of you and you will be fine...

If you never had an outbreak that you know of, what made you go and get tested for herpes? Just curious.....

I have an ex that told me I gave it to him... so I went and got tested... and boom HSV2 Positive.... I am pretty sure he is the one that gave it to me though... he harassed me under different yahoo IDs trying to convince me I had slept with various people... all the ISPs in the end traced back to him...
