puzzling herpes case
Question: :? My situation is unique. I'm 65yr.old female that has had only one sex partner in my life,my husband of 45yrs. that does not have herpes. I just recently had my 1st outbreak and was diagnosed with herpes type 1. My case goes against everything my doctor has told me about how you get it and everything I've read. INstead of a virgin birth I have avirgin case of herpes. My husband says to forget what the medical community says is gosaple and thik about how many things they tell us and then turn around and say it's not that it's really this. Please excuse the typos as I'm just upset. Anybody got any new take onmy situation? I'm devistaed. Answer: I just find it hard to believe that your husband doesn't have it. I think I would wonder about how he was tested (assuming he was). Answer: Don't worry about it. If you read up on HSV, you know that: - 50-80% of Americans have it. - you can get it by simply drinking from someone's cup who had it - it could have been in your system all along and just didn't come out I have a friend who had it since she was born and it only came out when she was in her 20s. In some people it comes out early, in some never, but most don't even know they have it. Just lead a healthy lifestyle, consult a good physician, and don't worry about it. This might be the only outbreak you'll have, you might have more, but this thing is easily managed with medicines like Valtrex (preventative, take every day. Dealing with the outbreak, take 2 then 2 again in 12 hours). HSV-1 is just an inconvenience. Cheer up :) Answer: BTW, you can find some stuff about it here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/hsv1 Answer: Hi I was diagnosed just over a year ago with genital herpes but it was the biggest relief when I discovered that it was type 1. Given that approximately 70% of adults have it, usually in the more common oral form, it's 'safer' in many ways because those who already have it orally can't contract it genitally. My doctor informed me that as its site of preference is oral not genital (and vice versa for type 2), it's FAR less likely to have subsequent episodes. I've had one in 12 months and it was mild and short lived, although I also take in addition to general vitamin supplements, Lysine (1000), Vitamin E (400) and garlic every day to help prevent outbreaks - this might have an impact, I'm not sure. I really wouldn't worry about it too much (that won't help anyway) - I was gutted at first but after a month or so I didn't bother about it at all. Bizarrely I met a guy 3 days after diagnosis and was TERRIFIED to tell him - at that stage it felt like the end of the world - he wasn't fazed at all, so I was pretty lucky really...
