Can you contract HSV genital if diagnosed with oral HSV1?

Question:
I have couple of questions (my apologies if I posted similar elsewhere)

I read that it is VERY RARE that you could contract HSV2 orally.
If it has happened do we have any statistics out there.

If you have HSV1 oral is it likely you can get genital HSV from someone?

Example: a couple both have HSV1 (oral) how likely would it be if they engaged in oral sex either partner could get genital?

I know once you have it you can't get it again. I believe I have come across some misinformation. Just would like to clear it up for myself.

I have couple of questions (my apologies if I posted similar elsewhere) I read that it is VERY RARE that you could contract HSV2 orally. If it has happened do we have any statistics out there. Rare being that it is not common. You might try reading the free herpes handbook over on westoverheights.com for the exact statistics.

If you have HSV1 oral is it likely you can get genital HSV from someone? Sure, why not?

Example: a couple both have HSV1 (oral) how likely would it be if they engaged in oral sex either partner could get genital? I'm thinking this is not something that is too totally common. You might try asking Terri Warren about this over on WebMD.

I know once you have it you can't get it again. I believe I have come across some misinformation. Just would like to clear it up for myself. That's true, you're not going to get something that you already have. Now it is possible for people to have both type-1 and type-2.

Hope I've helped,

There is an awesome article about this on this very website. It answered all my questions:

Answer:
I read that thanks.

In laymen's[spelling?] terms " is there any statistics that show someone with oral contracted genital?"

I know there is aways a possibilty but is there a likelyhood of this occuring?????

Answer:
Having HSV-2 antibodies in your system can offer some protection against contracting HSV-1 but having HSV-1 antibodies doesn't offer the same type of protection.

Is that what you are getting at?

Answer:
bottom line is, you have one, you can catch the other. Who KNOWS what the ratio/statistics ARE.....

And yes, you can have herpes on the lips/face, (hsv1) and still possibly get hsv2 on the lips. And visa versa. Again, who KNOWS what the statistics are.....ultimately, it IS possible. Apparently this phenomenon is rare, but possible. Wanna risk it? I sure don't.

Answer:
why bother having sex at all? or even kiss ya can't protect with kissing.
