people with genital hsv1
Question: I was recently diagnosed with genital hsv1 and wanted to ask some others who have the same some questions. How often do you have outbreaks? I have heard a lot of people never have another outbreak again and was wondering if any of agree/disagree with this. Have any of you transmitted it to a partner despite being careful? My boyfriend and I are still trying to figure out what we are going to do. I dont want to give it to him. But he is worried that even with wearing a condom what are his chances of getting it. Any precautions you make sure to take to keep from transmitting? Thanks for any info. Answer: I have GHSV-1. I have had it for at least 8 years now and have had 3 different partners in that time frame. And to my knowledge it hasn't been passed to them. All I've ever done is if I feel symptoms (tingling sensation) in that area I keep a real close eye on it. And if it does turn to an outbreak then there is no sex or oral until the area is completly healed. I try to make sure condoms are used but have had the occasional slip. And my outbreaks are rare. I've had maybe 4 in the last eight years. But the very first one was the worst and it seemed as soon as it was almost healed I would have problems again. Once my body built up the antibodies that it needed everything pretty much stays in check. Except for those times that I get sick or lose sleep... I hope this helps you and your lady friend. :) Answer: To Silent_Angel, I am experiencing the same thing that you did. Once my symptoms clear up, I get them again. I think that it is related to my menstrual cycle because I notice that I get the stinging feeling during my menstrual cycle. I noticed that you said after your body got adjusted to it, your ob started to decrease. Can you give me some more information regarding what symptoms you had and how long they lasted during the ob's? Thanks a million! :) Answer: I have had GHSV1 for about 7 months now. I've only had the initial outbreak. I take Valtrex daily, eat right, exercise, take Lysine and multi vitamins. I've been sick several times, once in December with strep & right now I'm battling the flu...but (knock on wood) not another outbreak. Hopeful1234 Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
