HSV1 TRANSMISSION?
Question: It hought I was clear on this, but i've read some info that says otherwise. Heres the scenario: I got a first outbreak of HSV1 (had a blood test this week) on the mouth from my girlfriend. A month later i am having strange herpes like symptoms below the belt, no lesions, cuts, blisters, just some itching and dull pain. I know HSV1 can cause both oral and genital outbreaks. I'm unlcear if I could get both from my girlfriend, first oral and then genital. I heard something about immunity stopping the outbreak. Does it matter that we are sharing the exact same strain of virus? Theoretically, what would be the difference between her giving it to me, or me autoinoculating myself(which I hear is rare), its the exact same virus, my body is already dealing with it. Wouldn't this situation be rare as well? Answer: It is possible but rare to spread the virus to both parts of your body. Usually when the virus is introduced to the body, it recurs in the same spot. Auto-innoculation can occur though. Usually spread to the eyes, hands, etc. What is probably more likely is that you are infected with both types. HSV 1 and 2. If you both get a blood test, that will confirm what really happened. Good luck and I hope you'll post after your blood test. Carol Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
