I am female and found out 2 weeks ago that I have HSV-1 on my vagina, I am looking to hear other peoples stories about this experience, transmission rate difference in ob's from that of HSV-2, etc.....

I am curious what your symptoms are and how you know. I have been testing negative but have a feeling that my burning and redness and swelling have been as a result of a possible HSV1 transmission.

Yeah, I haven't been able to get tested (was going today but the clinic is closed til thursday) and have noticed a rash among several small bumps. Is this anything like what you experienced in the early stages?

I am a 36 year old female and was diagnosed 2 years ago. I was with a man who had cold sores and at the time I didn't know that meant I could get herpes. He went down on me and within a week I was burning and itching. Upon initial exam my OB said it could have been yeast. I was tested for every STD and they all came back clean. It happened a few weeks later and was very painful and I got ONE blister. I was tested for all STDs again and this time the herpes came back positive. That ONE blister was enough to make me feel like my life fell apart. I get a low grade fever, and the virus settles in random parts of my body at any given time so I can have leg pain, back pain, ... for a few days and then it goes away. I am have been on suppressive therapy for almost 2 years and now get fewer outbreaks but know it's there and often feel like I cause myself enough stress to give myself an outbreak. And I will admit this here... I am married and had an affair and this is what I got in return. So lesson learned .. you play, you definitely pay. My husband now has symptoms but never once have we discussed it... which I know is wrong, but I am stuck in a rut of not knowing what to do. The man that I got this from was also married and played around,shame on me, and didn't know he had herpes until I confronted him. It's a mess and I can only blame myself.

Well, my first symptom was....I shave my vagina...so it was like a little cit....between my anus and my vaginal opening....or so i thought...i thought maybe i had cut myself shaving and it was healing...then what made me suspicious was a lil red lasion on my labia minora...and a small bump, which was itchy, and a lil tender to touch.i went to ob and they told me that i not only had a yeast infection...but after culturing the areas it came back positive for HSV-1 on my vagina. My understanding is that its less frightening looking and feeling than hsv-2. But, it has been just as emotionally painful as the other. I feel like I could easily spread this all over my body if i am not careful......Just curious what other peoples symptoms, ob experienceas, etc have been with hsv-1 on vagina...Thanks
