I have HSV-2 genital, She has HSV-1 oral
Question: What are the chances of me getting the oral version of HSV-1 from my girl friend when I already have genital HSV-2. I am concerned about getting cold sores, not getting both types of HSV genitally. I have the antibodies already in my body so would this defend me against the HSV-1? Can Valtrex decrease the amount of oral shedding from HSV-1? Answer: What are the chances of me getting the oral version of HSV-1 from my girl friend when I already have genital HSV-2. I am concerned about getting cold sores, not getting both types of HSV genitally. I have the antibodies already in my body so would this defend me against the HSV-1? assuming you mean that you have antibodies to both hsv1 and hsv2, this would indicate that you have already been exposed to them. you could have already been infected. if you meant that you have antibodies to hsv2 but not 1, those antibodies will protect only from type 2. given that it's hard to co-infect hsv1 and hsv2 into the same cells in a laboratory setting, i would posit that the same difficulty is found in nature. my husband has a history of cold sores, while i was recently diagnosed with GH. we have been together for almost 3 years and so i have yet to break out with cold sores. i would say not to worry about it. obviously dont kiss your chic when she has one, but just don't sweat the small stuff.
