The reason I'm writing this is because it seems that 90% of the people posting to this board either contracted herpes thru getting raped or else were in a totally committed relationship that just happened to produce herpes. Not me. I got herpes because I was single and because I fooled around one too many times. I practiced safe sex when I could, but if I was in a situation where I wanted to have sex and didn't have a condom I would usually continue anyway. Bottom line, I took the risk and got burned. I have a hard time believing I'm the only one in this situation, but reading this board makes me feel like I am.

I think on girls, on the soft part of the vagina, the blisters basically break right away and its more of a slit then a bump...

Thats what I remember from my girlfriend who I was with when I got it.

Although I don't think I would have used the term slit... More like just a tiny tiny open sore... Maybe if you pulled on the skin in the right direction it might look more like a slit..

I just started posting here recently too (and recently diagnosed) and I began to feel the same way. I'm a chick. I really enjoyed sex. I had quite a few partners. I was safe. But it caught up with me anyhow. You are not a bad or dirty person. Hate the virus, not yourself.

wrong person, wrong time ... yup ... if only we could all take it back. i was also thinking ... we're all unfortunate to have symptoms. because everyone who has HSV but has never experienced symptoms is living just like they don't have it ... no one knows why some people get symptoms and others don't.
