The wife just dropped the bomb on me that the marriage is broken and cannot be fixed. I am HSV-1 positive and I am sure I have it in both regions. My lips feel almost sunburnt continually. You cannot really see anything besides a little redness mostly. Although I used to get very large cold sore on occassion. Never thought they were a big deal. This has caused me to pull back from any kissing and in turn after years of this she cannot take it anymore. I have done this out of love for her. I am crushed to say the least and I am having to will myself to get up and go to work. I am going to lose my house, step kids and wife all because of my horrid hangups and torrential guilt. The guilt is not only from knowing that she has possibly contracted the same from me but I have probably caused other people pain in the past also. I havent told the parents yet, to scared as this is my second ( and was to be my last) marriage. There are other issues like any marriage but this is a obvious tipping point in my relationship now. Right now I feel like I want to vomit and just sleep all the time.

I don't know what other issues you have in your marriage, but if she knows the risks, wants you to kiss her, and you won't, then how did you seriously expect her to stay with you.

I think you need to get some professional help. What would it mean to you, if she did catch it off you. I think you're catastrophising the whole thing, and in simple terms, just not listening to her.
