Chance of spreading my HSV 1 -- please help!
Question: Okay, so I've got a cold sore on my upper gums and what feels like the very tip of my tongue. What I'm worried about is, now that I'm infected in the mouth, can bad sanitation make me end up getting it on my genitals? Let me explain. Say I later get a cold sore on my upper lip. In a moment of carelessness, I wipe my mouth off with my hand. Then, I go and pee, using the same hand to direct myself. Is that going to give me genital herpes? Lifelong outbreaks of genital??? (Oh, and also with the eyes, and the herpes that causes blindness -- if i put my contacts in via an infected finger, can that give me eye herpes?) This really worries me, please advise! Answer: well one thing is for sure; if you have oral herpes, or genital herpes for that matter, you would ALWAYS want to wash your hands after touching yourself, no matter where you touch. since this virus is so sneaky, the more you keep your hands clean, the better off you will be. Answer: How life altering would it be to make a commitment to paying attention to where you put your hands and washing them frequently. You can control whether or not you re-infect yourself quite easily. This should take some of the worry out of the idea of getting this virus somewhere else. The thing to worry about is that if you kiss someone you can pass it to them and they can get coldsores too. You can also infect someone by performing oral sex on them. If you kiss someone and infect their mouth and then they perform oral sex on you then you can get genital herpes and on and on . . . The risk is bigger of you passing the virus to someone else. Make sure you let partners know that you get coldsores and how they are transmitted and wash your hands frequently. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
