curious and scared

Question:
I met a really amazing girl, and she happens to have genital herpes. We were hanging out and we started to make out. I am concerned that i could possibly have contracted a form of herpes from just kissing her. We didnt do anything more than just kiss. She said that she doesn't have oral herpes and that Its not possible to give someone oral or genital herpes through kissing. Is that possible? I saw no symptoms of an outbreak on her face or anything. I am really concerned, and would appreciate any advice anyone has to give. Thanks

Answer:
it is very possible to spread herpes through kissing. Im not sure if i have herpes or not but it is possible. I am also 17 and pregnant with my boyfriends baby. We have only been together a month but we love each other like we have been together for years, i am scared to tell him because he may react in the wrong way because he always talks about how he will die if the baby doesnt come out right.

Answer:
corey, for a while i didn't have herpes in my mouth, only genital. but it spread. if you are concerned, get tested, it's that simple. that is the only sure fire way to find out. while your at it get tested for everything- you should do that at least 2 times a year.- care for your body.

for the pregnant girl. that's tough, but he needs to know. i'm not going to preach about the situation of having a baby with a guy you have only known one month, but if he rejects you, it's better for you and the baby that you find out now, and not later on

Answer:
Corey. You are VERY unlikely to develop herpes from kissing someone infected with HSV-II. I wouldn't worry about it. Furthermore, I wouldn't worry about becoming involved with her if you are interested in her. A little caution will help you avoid contracting herpes. Tonya, you seem unsure about whether you have herpes or not. As a pregnant woman, it will be important for you to talk to your doctor about this possibility. Especially important is to make sure precautions are taken should you have a serious herpes outbreak very close to delivery time. The docs may want to put you on antivirals, and in some rare instances a c-section delivery is in order. Remember, it is rare for herpes to be passed from mother to newborn, however it is a risk. This risk can be completely avoided if you take the right precautions. Mention you worries to your doctor, then stop worrying.
