Hey guys,

Did anyone happen to have an abnormal pap smear after they were diagnosed with H? I was diagnosed in Sept. and about 2 weeks after getting my results, the obgyn called and said I had to go back because I had an abnormal pap smear. :( I know that it could be related to something totally different, like hpv, but I was just wondering if any of you had the same problem-getting an abnormal pap. I'm kinda hoping a lot of you say yes so this way I know it's related to the H and not that there's something else wrong with me! :cry:

I have never had an abnormal pap even after being diagnosed with hsv but the entire purpose of this procedure is to test and see if there are abnormal cells. If you can stop something early before it is life threatening it will have served its purpose.

Yes. The doctor told me my pap came back abnormal, but he stated he wasnt alarmed because I was also tested for HPV and the test came back negative. He said the abnormal test could possibly be due to HSV.

I had an abnormal pap when I had HSV2 (even though at the time I didn't know i had it). When I went back for a colposcopy, I was told that I did test positive for HPV (which isn't too serious if you follow up with another pap in two or three months). However, after my colp, I was told that the abnormal cells didn't look bad and I didn't have to go in for a biopsy (thank goodness!). I just had a pap last month to follow up, even though I should have gone in sooner, and I had a normal pap! YAY! Also, last year when I had the abnormal pap, I was also told I had a yeast infection after they performed the colposcopy. I suspect that this "yeast infection" was actually a mild outbreak that neither the DR or I knew I was capable of having.
