Painfull Sex After Initial Outbreak

Question:
I just found out that I have had herpes for four years and gave it to my girlfriend of over a year. My initial outbreak was diagnosed as a bad case of the flu (I actually had to go to the hospital I was so sick). I had never shown any symptoms until recently when me and my girlfriend noticed problems. Mine was a very small and unpainfull rash on my genitals. Hers was a typical first outbreak and easy to diagnose. It took me weeks to figure out where I could have contracted it from, but I finally did.
The problem now is, sex is uncomfortable for her. It has been a month since her initial outbreak, she is completely healed up, but sex is painfull for her. She complains of being extremely sensitive to the point of pain (internally and externally). It is frustrating her because when sex initiates, it is fine, but it doesn't take long for it to become painfull and it inhibits her ability to have an orgasm. I am very afraid (as is she) of how this will affect our sex life in the long run.
I guess I was just trying to find out if this is common, if other women experience this, or if its temporary and will pass. Any information I can get will be so helpfull. Thanks in advance.

Answer:
We just strated dating when we had the same thing happen to us. That was years ago. It healed and so but we have not been able to have sex because it hurts me after a minute really bad. We tried lubricants, etc., it just doesn't work. Let me know if you figure something out, would you.

Answer:
Well, its been a while now and things are back to normal. Our only explanation could be that there were still "sores" unhealed where we couldn't see them. All of her pain was internal, so thats teh best thing we could come up with. I feel lucky and am relieved our sex life is back to normal.
Sorry to hear that you are having troubles. Hopefully, yours is temporary too. I know the strees of the initial outbreak also didn't help. The mind is a powerfull thing and can get the best of you. Best of luck. I hope all gets better for you.
