Hi, I was raped a little over 3 months ago. The next night I went to the hospital for a full check up to be sure I was ok. I know I was tested for STD's (which came back negative) and given preventable medicine as well. But I am unsure if that would still prevent me from having herpes. Today I noticed a pimple like bump on the inside of my outer vulva lip...and possibly a smaller one next to it. I have had no other sexual contact besides this rape. I plan on going to the doctor soon, but I am worried now about a possible infection. What are the chances that this pimple, bump maybe herpes?

It is possible that you caught herpes from this person and I would certainly recommend a check up by your doctor. It's nothing to be ashamed of and I'm sure your doctor will be supportive. Don't forget that everything you tell your doctor is confidential so you don't have to worry about anybody else knowing if that's a concern.

It's also worth mentioning that a very high percentage of the population carry the herpes virus, although it may lie dormant. It may be that you already had it but weren't aware of it. I get outbreaks on my hand. I've no idea where it came from but my mum and my husband get them on their mouths. Once it's in your body all it has to do is travel along a nerve.
