question for women!

Question:
Does anyone know if hsv-2 can affect your period? I was just diagnosed in the end of september, and it seems like my periods are really irregular (even before i was diagnosed). cuz it seemed like i went over a month and a half without having a period, so i didnt know if it would affect that...thanks for anyone's input!

Answer:
I was diagnosed about a month and a half ago and still have not had a normal period. Only spotting. Sorry I could not be of much help.

Answer:
Same for me, irregular periods!

Answer:
I haven't had any impact on my periods.

Instead, my periods have an impact on the HSV: every time I get my period, I have an OB in the PMS week beforehand. Yes, that's right, every month so far. Yet one more reason to love being a woman.

I'm praying that since I only contracted HSV around 4 months ago, this effect will settle down eventually and I won't have yet another charming symptom to add to the PMS struggle.

Answer:
Ok, I've had herpes close to 16 years....and it doesn't make my periods irregular..

However...I usually get an o/b every other mth..ALWAYs when I get my period...I was wondering if y'all felt more 'pain' w/your periods..? I feel real ucky when I have an o/b during a period..like up in my uterus.

Answer:
I've only had my initial ob, but i got my period shortly after with no pain. Although my periods have always been irregular, this one was much more of a stretch, about 2 months or so.

Answer:
i too get an outbreak every time I have my period...a week before my period it starts and lasts a week after my period is gone....has happened every single month without fail for a year and a half since I contracted this. In a lot of women the virus is affected by hormonal changes....the drop in hormone levels before your period has an affect on the body's immune system....which leads to the body giving a "go ahead" for the virus to activate for many people.
