I am still discovering new features and I run the admin, so don't feel too bad ;) Shenda Answer: I read some interesting info on alkaline diets somewhere on this site, but always have trouble finding them again. Can they be moved to this section? When selecting your alkaline foods, which works, make sure you do not tip the scales toward arginine. For example, raisens are known to be higher in arginine. I will buy several bottles of L-lysine from Target (for example) and put them in the blender turning them to a fine powder. You can put a teaspoon of this powder in foods that may be higher in arginine (over a bowl of oatmeal, for example). But all things in moderation (the oatmeal may cause you problems but this seems to work for me). You need both charts, alkaline and L-lysine. Answer: I get L-Lysine in capsules from "Country Life". They are 500 mg.s each. No need to blend them and the capsules open easily. BTW in my research on Red Marine Algae it is helpful for treating and preventing herpes and it is alkaline. In fact some of my research says it helps to make the body Alkaline. Read up on stuff before you try it. Answer: There is also some bad info on the site about alkaline- acidic- foods . The above link says ... " Foods which should be kept at a low level or avoided during outbreaks: Highly acidic foods such as: Citrus fruits Tomatoes Vinegar " But the only acid-forming food in that list is Vinegar! Citrus fruits are alkaline-forming! ... not acid-forming. Same for tomatoes! ... alkaline! not acidic forming. Eat lots of fruit and tomatoes! They are great for the human body and they are alkaline forming. And packed with great nutrients! Yummm! A good list is over here ... http://www.essense-of-life.com/moreinfo/foodcharts.htm There, they explain that ... "Although it might seem that citrus fruits would have an acidifying effect on the body, the citric acid they contain actually has an alkalinizing effect in the system." Now I want to say that, aside from that one issue, I think this is an excellent site with a good design and accurate and useful information. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
