Reduce/Eliminate Lip Discoloration?
Question: My lips have become discolored (darkened) due to cold sore outbreaks. Is there anything I can do to reduce/eliminate the discoloration so they go back to their original color? Answer: Hey there... I have experienced the same thing... to this day, I still have somewhat of a red line below the right side of my lip. I think I will have this for the rest of my life as it's now been over 2 years. Be careful with what you apply on your lips. Good old Vaseline might help. A capsul of Vitamin E opened up and just spread it on your lips. Apparantly, zinc tablets will help your skin with scaring... Do you get severe cases or just random ones... Hope your lips get back to normal soon! Fonzy Answer: Late reply on my part (but better than never). I do have a dermatologist appointment, but its 2 months away so if anyone has ideas in the mean time I'd love to hear them. Fonzy, as far as your questions go: I had my first cold sore outbreak a little over a year ago. There were 2 severe ones close together (within 3 weeks). Some of the discoloration occured then. Then a bunch of small/under-the-skin ones (where my lip would get bright red in color but wouldn't break). After one of these, half my upper lip & a quarter of my lower lip got very dark.
