I'm very scared UI've passed it to my child

Question:
Hi everyone,

Can anyone give me information about ways herpes can be spread? I am so terrified that my toddler is showing a sign - as she has a light red spot on her vagina. I don't know if I have type 1 or 2 - but I have vaginal outbreaks.

The only possibility I can think of is if, when she was a baby, I touched my lession then touched her (when changing her nappy) There would have been atleast 5-10 minutes between these two events. (I would get up from bed, half asleep to go to her)

Is it possible to have the 'cells' on my finger for that length of time?

I feel sick to the stomach about this - but I need the truth

thank you in advance

Answer:
Little children are really susceptible to candida albicans. I'd make sure that her panty area stays clean and dry. A little talcum powder might help. You may also want to try some zinc ointment. If the spot doesn't resolve I'd see her pediatrician.

I would bet that you're really good about your own hygiene just by knowing you have hsv so I'd doubt that you accidentally infected her.
