I use Carmex

Question:
Like I said before, I use carmex lip balm (the squeeze tube kind) on my genital area because I get cuts. It greatly reduces the itch and keeps the cuts from constantly breaking open but because its a petroleum base product I do wonder if it makes my outbreaks last longer than they should. Without it, the itch, weeping and reopened cuts just don't seem to stop. I have tried the purell and even though I can get through the burn it tends to make the lesions weep more, needless to say every time I remove my panties to use the bathroom, the cloth sticks and the weeping starts again. I have also used the aloe vera gel that global herbal sends in their kit but it doesn't relieve the itch for very long.

Has anyone got any input on this and do you know if I'm doing more harm than good?

Answer:
you might try "Aveeno Anti-Itch Cream" instead. It has a mix of pramoxine and calamine plus some other goodies. It stops the itch but helps to dry the ob.

Answer:
Thanks, can I find that in most stores? And do you know if it would heal the cuts fairly quick? I can't believe my luck with these OB's!

Answer:
Ok, I see I can get it at Walgreens but can you answer the other question? Sorry to be a pain in the ass.

Answer:
Everything I have read says that putting topicals on the sores extends the amount of time to heal. When I had primary and my second OB, I used epsom salts and it seemed to speed healing on my second ob (only used it once on my first) and it just felt good to soak my sore bum in a nice warm bath. I'll pat thoroughly dry afterward and just wear loose cotton panties and jammie bottoms as much as I can. Not real sexy, but keeps the airflow.
