Answer: ok so its been a while since i've been on these forums. since my last post i've met a wonderful guy got married and just found out i'm pregnant so i'm very happy and excited. i found out i had hsv 2 in april my husband knows and was very understanding and was able to look past that. i'm just wondering if its ok to keep taking valtrex now that i'm pregnant i haven't gotten into the doctor yet my appointment isn't until the 19th of december. and i was also wondering if when other woman got pregnant they had a constant outbreak? i've had an outbreak now for at least a month. any answers will be greatly appreciated Congratulations!!! I can't answer any of your questions. Hopefully you can find a well-informed medical professional to steer you the right way. Keep us updated on your pregnancy. I'd love to hear about it! Answer: I'm not a professional, but I have been pregnant after being dx with GHSV. I, myself, was not on Valtrex for suppression until my 36th week of pregnancy. This was ok'ed by my OBGYN to take prior to giving birth to prevent transmission to my baby. As far as having outbreakss during pregnancy, I can tell you that with each of my children (I have 2), I had 1 outbreak and they both were late in the first trimester. When your pregnant your hormones are going haywire and with the shifting of them, outbreaks may occur more frequently. My suggestion to you is to call and speak with a nurse or your OB if they are available, and find out more just to be on the safe side. One last thing...just in case you are concerned about being able to have your baby vaginally...it can happen. I delivered both of mine vaginally and they are almost 11 and 2 and a half years old--Healthy and Happy! I is possible. Congratulations and have a Blessed pregnancy. Keep us posted. Answer: i'am 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant...i just got an outbreak last weak and i think one of them turned into a sore.i wont be able to see my doctor until the 10th but anyways my question is can this affect my baby?im pretty sure i already have antibodies in my system but im not on any mediction? Answer: i've already decided i'm going to opt for a c-section i don't want to risk my baby being infected. i have one child already she is 3 1/2 but i didn't have hsv2 until this last april. with desarey i had a natural birth. lostandunsure from what i understand having an ob during pregnancy isn't going to affect the baby. i think the only time that will affect the baby is if your having an ob at birth and thats if you have a natural birth. Answer: is there any possibility that the hsv can come in contact with the placenta?and if does it will infect the fetus, right?? Answer: If you do not have your primary exposure to hsv during your pregnancy the only risk is during delivery. This risk is only if there is an ob present at that time and the baby can come into physical contact with the ob while passing through the birth canal. This is why many dr's recommend a cesarean section. Answer: Im 7 months pregnant and tested positive at 5 months I had out breaks since the day I found out i was pregnant up until now. I recently started valtrex therapy as my doctor is an asshole and doesnt want to even consider scheduling a c-section. ( a whole different story ) but to answer some of your questions ( and I am no expert on this just going by what ive been told ) Your baby is safe in the womb. Baby can be infected thru the placenta but that would cause problems in development or misscarriage. So my Dr says with all the sonograms weve done MY BABY IS DEVELOPING FINE and so far no misscarriage so the risk of the infection thru placenta is low. my out breaks are very frequent some week after week ( back to back ) But I noticed that when I eat alot of chocolate I get out breaks so I will stay away from that come closer to my due date...any way I hope this helps take care...
