Natural caffiene?

Question:
I have been drinking coffee for so many years, that if I skip a day or even drink it one or two hours later than normal, I end up with a debilitating headache. Of the migraine kind - throwing up, sensitivity to light, deaf in one ear. The works.

And I have HSV as well. So I really am trying to get off of the coffee completely.

I found vitamin water - one of which has natural caffiene in it. It seems to replace the coffee. I dont get headaches from it.

But anyone know if it is any better than coffee?

Any suggestions on how to quit (and pain killers do nothing for these types of headaches, unless I take the ones with caffiene, which is exactly what I dont want to do).

Catch 22.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Answer:
I would think caffiene is caffiene...the only difference might be what processing and or chemicals they use to grow the plant it comes from.

Personally, I would start weaning myself by drinking green tea because of the antioxidant factor in green tea.

Good for you though for cleaning up your system!

I just can't see giving up the luxury of my (one) double latte every morning....ahhhhh...I love that thick, black, rich cup of joe!!

Answer:
Caffeine is on the list of "Foods high in Arginine"...

But can coffee really trigger an outbreak? And actually be bad for you when you have herpes, like chocolate is said to be? Unfortunately, I think it has a bad influence on me and my body, when it comes to herpes and getting outbreaks.

Anyone who has any experiences with this?

Is it perhaps better to replace the coffee with green tea, or just any kind of tea?

Answer:
I've been off caffeine for years now. Best way I found was to slowly get off of it to minimize headaches and other problems. Like anything, you'll have some withdrawals, but not as bad as going cold turkey.
To replace the morning coffee - apple juice. I can't find any of the references right now, but try it for a few days, you'll be happy.
