lysine... how much?

Question:
forgive me if this is already posted somewhere...

Just curious how much lysine you guys take... I just picked up a bottle of 500mg tablets, and wondered how many I should consider taking. Also, is this something you take daily, or just during ob's?

sorry if these are dumb questions... :)

Answer:
I take 1 500 mg daily. I think during an OB, I would increase it. But since taking it, no OB. Knock on wood!!

Answer:
I believe that is what most people taking this do. 500mg daily with addition on ob times. I only take it during ob's only because I cannot afford to take it daily. They do add up!

Answer:
I just visited a website the other day looking for some info on dosage. Here is the site http://www.best-herpes-treatments.com/lysine.html
Hope this helps. I just started today taking the dosage recommended during an ob. We will see what my results are in a few days.

Answer:
I was just diagnosised 20 days ago and began suppressive therapy Thursday. I asked my doctor about lysine and she said it has positive proven beneficial effects and that it would help me to take it. I actually have 1,000 mg (is that too much) that's what was at the pharmacy. My plan was to take it once a day with my Valtrex. Any thoughts?

I tried to do this but was unable to continue due to financial constraints so I can't really advise this or not. I'd give it a try anyway. Can't hurt. Take care.

Answer:
I've been told that you need to take at least 1250mg of lysine in order for it to be effective against preventing or treating outbreaks.

I take 1g (2 500mg tablets) of Lysine with breakfast and 500mg with lunch, so 1500mg daily.
If I'm having an OB, I bump it up to 2g.

I can't afford antivirals like valtrex right now, so I'm pretty religious about my vitamins.

I also take vitamin C, echinacea, and a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement. How much echinacea I take depends on how at risk I feel my immune system is (I work in a public school), since it does a number on my stomach.
