Cheap Acyclovir

Question:
Hi

I just compared prices, both in local pharmacies and online and found Costco sells generic Zovirax (Acyclovir) for roughly half of the next cheapest price I found. The price difference was so staggering I felt compelled to pass this info along.

Anyone who wants to go on suppression but feels it's too expensive - apprx. $180/mo for Valtrex (????!!!!) might be happy to know that they say you can do the same thing using this Acyclovir generic. You just have to take the pill more often. Looks like if you go with 400mg Acyclovir you may be able to suppress with 2 pills a day. Conventional wisdom says that if you still have outbreaks you might first try 400mg every 8 hours (3x/day) and if that doesn't work get the 200mg and go for 4-5 x a day. Just have to play with it. The price for what I'm trying, 400mg 2x a day, is $15/month throuth Costco (60 pills). Even online prices couldn't touch that. $15/month is a small price to pay if it really suppresses. And anyone in a relationship might consider having your mate pop these pills, too - there was a recent article saying that Acyclovir reduces the possibility of transmission to non-HSV partner.
