I just found out and worried
Question: I just started dating a new guy for the past two months, we haven't had sex yet but we have fooled around (sorry to sound blunt but i have given him oral and he has used his fingers in me). I had a dr. appt last week and I got checked for STDs and the herpes test came back positive, and apparently I had it for a year but when I got checked last year something was misplaced and they never called me back so I assumed everything was normal, and I never had an outbreak either (or at least I dont think I had one, unless it was a small outbreak and didn't effect me that much), I didn't know I had this and I am afraid that I might have passed it on to my new guy. My question is even though I have genital herpes only (no cold sores) and I have given him oral sex can I spread it to him? and what about the fingering part (again sorry for the bluntness) can he have gotten it from that? Answer: Hi Creevy, If you didn't have any sore in your mouth when you gave him oral, I don't think there is a chance you gave him the virus. By letting him finger you, ... if the virus was shedding from there, there is a chance that he was exposed to the virus. But, very healthy skin don't get infected even if it touched the virus. Only if he had cut or dermatitis or something, there's a chance that he got it. But......... from your description, I felt that the chance that he got the virus is very low. Now that you know you have herpes, talk to him about it..... That's very important... Best wishes.. Faith Answer: can you tell if/when you are shedding? are there any signs for that? Also thank you for your help and answering my questions, and yes I will be talking to him about this. Answer: can you tell if/when you are shedding? are there any signs for that? Not really... I've read that some people think they can feel when they are shedding... they can feel a tingle or a pinch... But I don't think its quantifiable enough for a person to think they could feel it. There's just no way to know if you are shedding.. I had a dr. appt last week and I got checked for STDs and the herpes test came back positive, and apparently I had it for a year but when I got checked last year something was misplaced and they never called me back so I assumed everything was normal, and I never had an outbreak either (or at least I dont think I had one, unless it was a small outbreak and didn't effect me that much), How do you know you have Genital Herpes? I'm not an expert on the blood test, but if you've never had an outbreak, how do you know you don't have oral herpes??? Answer: i never had any coldsores on my mouth, so I was assuming that it must me genital herpes. Could there might have been a false positve, is there such a thing? Answer: i never had any coldsores on my mouth, so I was assuming that it must me genital herpes. You might have had a cold-sore as a child... Or you could have had a cold sore and not noticed. When I was younger, I thought all cold-sores were the big nasty ugly things that some people got. But some cold sores look just like a single tiny pimple on the edge of your lip but it is an hsv blister, not a pimple... Answer: so are you saying I could of had this since I was a child? But even if I had coldsores as a child how come I haven't since then and how could that have changed to genital herpes? Answer: But even if I had coldsores as a child how come I haven't since then and how could that have changed to genital herpes? Again... Why do you think you have genital? You've never had an outbreak??? It wouldn't 'change' to down there... And I'm not TOTALLY up on the blood test, but I am pretty sure the blood test doesn't tell you where you have HSV... Just if you have it somewhere? (someone correct me if I'm wrong) Answer: Actually there are blood tests out there that are "type specific." I had two done over a year ago and the results told me that I'm HSV1 negative BUT HSV2 positive. Hence, I know I have genital herpes. If I'm not mistaken, if you have oral (HSV1) herpes, you can spread it to the genital area through felatio. And may even develop into HSV2. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
