My Eyes?!
Question: Hi Agian All, I Have another question, How likely or commen is it to spread herpes to your eyes? I mean I have it on my face close to my eye and just wanted to know if I could spread It to my eyes from putting on make up, or washing my face? Have you or do you know anyone that has had it in there eye? I mean if you get it in your eye are you deffently going blind? Sorry if my guestion sounds stupid, I'm just so worried about spreading it there. I wear contacts so I have to touch my eyes atleast twice a day. Ok well Thanks all!!! Answer: dear lost angel, i was really paranoid about spreading it to my eyes too. i also wear contacts every day. i think it's ok, as long as you don't touch your eye after touching your sore. i make sure i wash my hands before putting on my contacts even if i haven't touched any part of my face. when i wash my face, i'm really careful about washing around my eyes. i think the best thing you can do is to wash your hands frequently, and if your sore is near your eye, wash that area carefully as well, and you should be fine. you can lose vision if your eyes get infected, but don't stress too much! on the whole, occular herpes is pretty uncommon ... and if you think about it, H or no H, everyone should always be careful with their eyes! Answer: Thanks for your reply, I'm so worried I keep checking my eyes and keep thinking I can see redness. So EVERYONE that gets it in there eyes, will go blind to never see agian? Plus I have Hsv-1 so Its much worse on the upper half of me. I have had a ob down there but it wansent too bad. Right now I'm haveing a BAD on on my ARMPIT!!:( And my mouth gets pretty bad. Its like I have had a longgg ob, that seems to never go away. The only med's Im on for it is Lysine. Im not a big fan of meds. you have to take everyday. Lysine is good b/c you only take it when you are actually having a ob. Im so obsessed with worry about getting this crap in my eyes. I keep feeling itchness there. And you know sometimes when you wear your contacts too much/long they get kind if "foggy"...well that haooenes to me. Well I keep thinking its not mu contacts, but my eyes  I dont know I do worry alot  Did you read my post in "Is IT Herpes" I asked a question about hydrocoden and somas and have yet to have gotten a answer, If you could please take a look at it and see if you can help me. Thanks!! Jessica<3 Answer: dear lost angel, when i was paranoid about my eyes and made an appt to see a doctor, the person on the phone asked me a series of questions to determine how urgent my situation was, i guess. she asked me things like: are you seeing double-vision? have you experienced a loss in vision? are your eyes secreting anything? my answers to all of these questions was no. and if yours are too, i think your eyes are ok! but i totally understand the worry ... i'm think there are different levels of vision loss, so some people can become blind and some don't. as long as you get it diagnosed soon after infection, doctors can give you antivirals that will hopefully keep it from getting worse. i hope i never get it in the eyes ... i don't have much vision left to lose! =) about your other question ... sorry! i don't know the answer! i hope your OB gets better soon ... by the way, i'm not as dismal as my name sounds. i registered when i was really depressed and now i've posted so much, i don't want to change my name in case someone wants to private message me. Answer: I TOTALLY agree with NMH - I'm just gonna call you Hope from now on.... :D to go along with Faith - guess we now need Charity! Anyhow - my old boyfriend got an eye infection that wouldn't clear up - worse when he stressed... I was SO scared - took me about 3 hours to gather the nerve to tell him the possibility. He went and got checked. Ongoing conjunctivitis - got some drops - all gone. But I was sick over it. And contacts - I scrub before - why take the risk even though it's minimal? Guess all we can do is be careful, wash, and be sensible about our actions..... Thought I was alone on that one - thanks Hope! Answer: You should always wash your hands before you touch your eye, contacts or no contacts... When we get a cold, its usually from touching our face with our hands... and if you touch your eye with a cold virus on your hands, you will get a cold... Hand washing and not touching your face unless you have just washed your hands is just all around a GOOD HABIT to get into. Jess.... I can't believe how much you worry.... I don't know if you do, or do not have HSV, but how you describe your bumps that you get all over... I'm SO convinced those are not HSV.. In addition, you have said they don't look like blisters, as we discussed in another thread... Again... another reason I think that the bumps you see are not HSV... Anyway... I don't know... Maybe I should just give up, and let you be convinced you have Herpes, but man girl... You need to relax and stop worrying. Not that we mind your questions, but for your own health STOP WORRYING so much :? Oh well... hope all is well with you... Answer: Thanks Everyone, Pilot, Yes, I know I do worry ALOT, BUT the doc said yes I have herpes, so I think it's best to assume thats what it is ( Intill I get the another doctor. ) It's better to be safe then sorry right!?! I dont know I now have this ob on my armpit that looks alot like h, I mean redm burn , itch , bumps now little cuts, witch is slowly scabbing. So Looking at that makes me question that I do have it, It's all a BIG huge mess, and I just cant waite for a doc to tell me, NO it's not herpes, but In till then I think it's best for me to just assume that it is. Maybe I should just give up, and let you be convinced you have Herpes, Please don't "give up" I understand where your comming from, It's just this is all so weird and scary for me. OK well I guess I will just stop asking question here. Thanks agian for your help, Jessica Answer: Your armpit Jess? Boy, I really doubt it - how do you think you could have been exposed? Do you shave & share a razor with someone who has HSV? otherwise, I can't imagine how it could possibly get there. Answer: BUT the doc said yes I have herpes After a visual inspection only, when the first doctor said NO, you don't have herpes... OK well I guess I will just stop asking question here Come on Jess... You KNOW that's not what I meant... You either have the worlds most aggressive/relentless/proliferated case of herpes OR there is something else going on with your skin. In the last month you have thought you have an outbreak on your thigh, cooch, tongue, boobs, face, ear, hands, and now your armpit. Jess.... SOMETHING ELSE is going on there. I do not know what, but HSV is NOT THAT AGGRESSIVE. And the fact that your doctor looked at your 'bumps' and said "yup its herpes" AND THEN DID NOT DO A CULTURE... To me... that is NOT GOOD MEDICINE!!!!! YOU DO NOT MAKE A VISUAL DIAGNOSIS OF HSV AND THEN SAY THAT'S IT. If it looks like it... culture it... I mean with ALLLLLL the places you've had 'bumps' in the last month... And you say they don't go away... Its just not consistent with HSV... My point is not to make you not want to ask questions... But my point IS that if you are going to ask a question AT LEAST LISTEN to what we say? And like I said... I KNOW that not all your bumps are HSV related. I CANNOT say that you don't have HSV... But I KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT that you've got SOMETHING else going on... Cause HSV would NOT CAUSE all the bumps that you've had on just about every part of your body over the course of the last month.
