how to find out...
Question: i just found out a few days ago that i was hsv-2 positive. a few days ago before i found out, a guy im seein went down on me. im afraid that i could have passed it to him...and dont know what to do. i know i need to tell him. if it infected his mouth, how could we find out? Answer: Hi reallyworried, there are blood tests that can be done to find out if he's got the antibodies to hsv 1 or 2, but I don't think that would tell where he's been exposed (like the mouth versus the genitals). In my experience, there are alot of doctors who don't like to do the tests simply because alot of people have the antibodies, my bf's doctor actually said: "anybody who's ever had a coldsore would show up positive" ... well duh! coldsores ARE Herpes!!! anyway, I guess her theory was having someone freak out about a positive for 'no reason' (in her crazy mind anyway) .... at any rate, despite this  I always think it's a good idea to talk to a doc and get checked out if you have any concerns. There are several posts here about the blood tests. Try doing a search for it, from what I've heard Herpeselect is pretty accurate, you might try searching for that and others. then you can ask your doc to be tested (or for your bf to be tested) with a specific test. Good luck. Answer: thanks for the help...now im kinda freakin out more because today i noticed in the corner of my mouth, what looked like a crack, and it looked kinda wet when i messed with it. im afraid that when he did oral on me he got it and when we kissed he passed it to my mouth! is that likely? can a doctor tell me if the "crack" is infected or just caused by dry skin? cuz my lips have been chapped...i feel like since i found out i have hsv-2 ive been freakin out bout every little itch, tingle, or the slightest thing that reminds me of what the little ulceration looked like...:( Answer: HSV-2 is almost impossible to get in your mouth from what I hear. I've read that in many places. It is probably your paranoia, entirely understandable by all of us on this forum. --ross Answer: thanks for the help...now im kinda freakin out more because today i noticed in the corner of my mouth, what looked like a crack, and it looked kinda wet when i messed with it. im afraid that when he did oral on me he got it and when we kissed he passed it to my mouth! is that likely? can a doctor tell me if the "crack" is infected or just caused by dry skin? cuz my lips have been chapped...i feel like since i found out i have hsv-2 ive been freakin out bout every little itch, tingle, or the slightest thing that reminds me of what the little ulceration looked like...:( I have the same problem.. since I learned about my girlfriend having herpies on her mouth.. My lips just feel wierd.. Like a bit tingly but nothing that i never really felt before sometime. I'm hoping this is just my paranoia.. as I know my paranoia can easily make parts of my body hurt.. But I'm freaking out here.. Answer: Yes, I would like to find out if anyone here has oral hsv2. I was tested negative by a blood test, but I'm pretty sure I have it. I've had blisters in my mouth and that's not normal for me. Now I have a couple dark red spots left but of course don't have a positive answer if it's hsv2. I know it's rare and usually not as severe but it's still a virus and you don't want it. I'd like to know more experiences from other people. Answer: To greenday, Did they test you for H1 too? Maybe it is H1. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
