Anyone try fasting?
Question: Fasting is supposed to help fight disease because the body is supposed to focus more on healing if it isn't engaged in digestion. I'm on my fourth day of only water intake; this outbreak isn't any better. I've not heard of anyone doing this for herpes but it works for other illnesses & I am in so much pain that desperation has moved me to do something I've never done before. Anyone have any experience with fasting as a method to improve the immune system thereby better fight the virus? To add insult to injury, I just found out about another of my husband's affairs yesterday. Of course he denied it but there are so many people who know since he did it with a blabber-mouth barrista that our marriage has become fodder for the local espresso stands gossip mill. I finally asked him to leave and will file for divorce as soon as his mother recovers from heart surgery but I'm having a hard time withstanding all the physical pain he's left behind let alone the emotional trauma of catching a disease from the only person I've been with. All the stress of my marriage falling apart is probably more than enough without adding fasting to it, but I wanted to find out if anyone has tried it before I make a decision. I am in desperate need of information and encouragement. Please help. Answer: Hello, Yes, the old, "Feed a cold and Starve the Flu" does seem to work a little bit. However, you do need nutrition as your system is being attacked in a very major way. If you are not taking vitamins you may want to. Also, people have mentioned that yogurt seems to help a little bit. You do need to eat something in order to keep your strength up. You simply don't want to overeat. Try 3-6 small (size of fist or smaller) meals a day. Not eating during your first outbreak is easy as you are dealing with so much other traumal, but you do need nourishment. Please see my post on "Treatment Summary?" as I have just been through this. However, I will be posting that you should NOT use DMSO around the genitals during an outbreak as I ruptured a lymph node. Best of luck, Fighter. Answer: I wouldn't be on a fast during an outbreak. Just too much your body has to cope with at ones. See, already your body is under attack and what happens during a fast is that your body is further trying to eliminate waste which weakens you even more. Instead, try to eat moderate but healthy and do all the things which have been proven to easy the OB. (Lysine, Vitamins, Creams etc.) Good Luck.
