Question:
Ive been getting cold sores since I was a child. Until a couple of days ago, I hadnt had an outbreak for about four years.
One of my neices just got a really bad bout of cold sores. A few days before she broke out, she kissed me on the mouth. A few days later I broke out with the worst case Ive ever had, in a different place than Ive had them before.
My question is...if I already had the virus, could I have gotten a different strain or something from her?

Don't take anything 100% here as I'm new to this, but I would say you could of caught a different strain, say you had HSV1... you could of caught HSV2 in the same area..
