Welcome to www.thanktoday.com !!!

People in OR and TX must read!!

Question:
I wanted to repost my message about clinical trials trying to get started for 2 THERAPEUTIC vaccines for HSV....in other words they will be used to treat/suppress HSV symptoms for long periods of time...maybe even indefinitely!!! If we want to see these life-changing treatments move closer to approval by the FDA, we need to do our part to get them there....Both Phase 1 studies; Antigenics AG-70X in Oregon and PowderMed in Texas, are ready to start clinical testing but are still waiting for enough people to enroll for participation...from what I understand, they both require something like 20 people more, in order to get started...Participants are compensated financially, the time commitment is small and those participating have a chance to receive new treatment years before anyone else!! Anyone in Oregon or Texas who is sick of daily valtrex, sick of contagiousness and sick of being afraid of condeming a lover to a lifetime of pills, sign up so that these projects can move one step closer to wide release!!
More details are available through the companies themselves (www.antigenics.com)(www.powdermed.com)...you can also message me directly and I will share in more detail what is involved in the trial...For the people this message applies to, this is your chance to help us all!!
Anyone who signs up or contacts these companies, please post back and let us know what youve learned!!!

Answer:
Paranoid,

Just wanted to say thanks for trying to keep everyone updated here about these trials. Unfortunately I don't live in Oregon or Texas, otherwise I would have liked to participate in either one. I am signed up on a candidate list for the Cytogenix trials though. I'm currently a medical student, and I think you're absolutely right--we must take it upon ourselves to enroll in these types of things and show some initiative if we ever want to find a "cure," or even a good palliative treatment. From what I've seen from my peers, doctors, and the medical establishment around me, I feel that the medical community isn't really all that concerned with this virus. It seems they believe that it's basically just a "nuisance" that doesn't deserve much consideration, since it is not fatal. If we hope for any progress to be made in our lifetimes, we at least have to try to support the few researchers out there who are working with this virus, rather than sitting back and hoping something will fall in our laps. So I enter my plea along with Paranoid's--please people in Oregon and Texas, sign up for these trials!!

Answer:
There you go folks, you heard it from someone on the inside of the establishment...HSV isnt seen as a serious medical problem and will never get the attention that other infectious disease does...There are a couple of companies trying to help us and, regardless of their motives, we will all benefit if a therapeutic vaccine is approved!! Sweptunder, where did you sign up for the CYGX candidate list? Do they have a tentative site where the trial will be held, pending the greenlight from the FDA?

Answer:
I'd like to know about this too. I spoke to a Cytogenix representative and he instructed me to send an email requesting to be included in the trials. I never heard anything back...
