acyclovir experience
Question: i just wanted to share my experience with acyclovir. after trying all sorts of natural suppresive therapies, i decided to go on ayclovir. before i went on it, i was taking daily doses of olive leaf extract and lysine. i thouhgt i had things under control until bang! had a huge cold sore. i could say i am lucky in a way. i have hsv1 up here as opposed to down there. the one thing that many don't realize is that when bad outbreaks come, they could be so big and repulsive that it is hard to go in public without feeling like one is grossing people out. anyway... many of the times, this is something in ones mind and doesn't even come close to what one thinks. i guess it all depends on the magnitude of the outbreak. in any case my outbreaks are always big. i have never had an unnoticeable one. in any case, i would like to report that i have been taking 400mg of acyclovir twice a day. whenever i feel something isnt gonna go right i take 600mg. sometimes i do this when i go out late at night, drink etc. i also take olive leaf extract, lysine, and vitamin C in those special ocassions. I have been about 6 months outbreak free. In one ocassion I had one ( i believe) was so small that I couldn't even see it in the mirror. Something that never happened before. one thing i am worried about though is that my body gets accustomed to it... for now, i think i will take my chances. thats all for now. just an update... Answer: Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. Think about trying this: Take your suppressive for 5 days, take 2 days off, then repeat. So basically take M-F and give yourself a break on Saturday and Sunday. You may reap the same suppressive benefits while also giving your liver a break. One last thing to do is to regulary take liver-protecting herbs like milk thistle and dandelion root. If you do try the 5/2 schedule let us know how things work out. Cain Answer: although this has been proved to work for me, it is costing me a fortune. i am curretnly spending about 80 euros for a month's supply of acyclovir. i used to be able to buy this super cheap while i was in the US at costco online. i have been trying to do this again, but they require a US prescription. is there anyone that know of a US doctor that may prescribe me online or through a phone consultation? does anyone know where i may find acyclovir cheaper in europe? I will look for these protecting herbs. For now, I think I will stick with my current doses. Once some changes in my life permit, I may try not taking the meds 2 days a week, as you suggested.
