Question for those of you taking the natural approach..

Question:
I believe very much in the natural approach. I have bought the vitamins, Lysine, C, B, and will ad Zinc to the mix soon. I was wondering is this too much on my organs? I know it has to be better than the prescribed meds but is it possible to take too much and hurt my liver or kidneys? I take 1000 Lysine, 1000 C, 1 tab of B complex so far a day. Just wondering. Thank you,
S2

Answer:
Most vitamins aren't harmful to your body, you just eliminate what you don't use. An exception that I know of is zinc: you might want to read literature on it, it's good in moderation, but too much can deplete copper in your body. And if you are taking Chaparral to cleanse your liver also use moderation, because it is a powerful hepatic drainer. Just don't go overboard on vitamins, take the recommended dosages and listen to your body.

Answer:
Thank you Believe, I was hoping you would reply, your posts seem to be very knowledgeable on this matter. I am new to this, so I dont really know that much. I dont know of the liver cleanser you mentioned. Thanks for the tip re. Zinc. What about adding Euchinacia (sp?) I have heard that could be dangerous also. Do you know anything about it?
I guess my main concern was mixing all of these together, Lysine C, B, Zinc and Euch. also.
I appreciated your response! Thanks! :)

Answer:
I have never heard of someone having problems with overusing echinacea. It would be like eating too much brocolli, if you catch my drift. As far as your mixture, I see no problems. But as always, everyone's body is different, so just pay attention to your body and if you notice things that you dislike, discontinue the use.

Answer:
Echinacea should not be used long term. Goldenseal is another that is not recommended long term. Too much vitamin C can cause diarrhea, but that is easily remedied by cutting back if you experience that symptom. Chapparel is not a liver cleanser. It can be toxic to the liver but the supplements that are on the market which contain viristatin, supposedly have the element removed that can cause liver damage. Check this website: www.shegoi.com or do a search on larrea tridenta on the web.

I've just started using Virox, which is chapparel, and it seems to halt an outbreak, although I haven't found it effective in suppressing one. You might want to check out lauricidin. www.lauricidin.com.

I've tried just about everything; if you have any questions, just ask.

Answer:
What is your documentation on echinacea and goldenseal? I disagree.

Answer:
This is info I have read from more than one source. I subscribe to a health newsletter called "Health and Healing" by Dr. Julian Whitiker that contains good information and he has recommend use of echinacea and goldenseal for short term use only. But, here are some other sources:

Echinacea is a popular herb used primarily to reduce the symptoms and duration of colds and flu-like illnesses. It is believed to work through short-term stimulation of the immune system. The herb has not been proven to be effective for preventing disease and is not recommended for long-term use. www.consumerlab.com

I?m not aware of any research showing that long-term use of echinacea over-stimulates the immune system. Indeed, I?ve found no evidence to support the opposing widespread belief that, taken long-term, echinacea loses its effectiveness. (For that matter, I?ve seen no evidence to support using it to protect against colds.) Its active components are quite similar to those of other immune-boosting plants (like the Chinese herb Astragalus membranaceous) that people take on a long-term basis. While I don?t recommend its long-term use, I don't think taking echinacea regularly is likely to pose a problem for most people. www.drweil.com

With long-term use, echinacea appears to lose effectiveness. Maximum periods of continuous use: 6 - 8 weeks www.herbs.org

Cautions: The use of very large doses can or extended use is not suggested.www.kcweb.com (goldenseal)

This is just a sampling, but it seems the general consensus is to use it short term.

Answer:
Hi,
Well, I have been taking lots of vitamins and have changed my diet drastically since being infected almost 3 weeks ago. I have yet to have an outbreak. I did get the neveranoutbreak.com book and DMSO cream and breath of life oxygen stabilizer in the mail a few days ago. I read the book and thought I 'd share some info with you. According to the book Echinacea does lose its effectiveness after 2 weeks or so, So although it is a recommended suppliment for herpes, it is stated that it be used when prodome starts and until an outbreak clears up. I highly recommend reading the book, but I'll give some highlights. All viruses need low oxygen to live. The only way to kill or calm herpes is with oxygen. There are several ways of getting oxygen into your body. One if fresh raw vegatables, deep breathing can help. Hydrogen peroxide is full of oxygen and did you know you can spray it on your skin and see if the virus is shedding, skin will turn white? I thought that was helpful. The book recommended the following supppliments- Garlic, Co enzyme Q10, L Lysine, Echniacea periodically, a daily multivitamin and cats claw. Cats claw, known also as Uncaria tomentosa, was said to be the most powerful attack on this virus. It said get the uncaria tomentosa kind, it comes from the inner bark of this plant and has more power. Book said take lots of garlic, as many as 15 pills at the start of prodome. It can halt the outbreak. It also said taking vit a, c and e as well as selenium and germanium can be helpful. Book said limit nuts and chocolate and refrain from citrus when virus is active. This was interesting, book said don't do anythink but light exercise, walkings ok. Because when you get winded and short of breathe it causes your cells to produce lactic acid which herpes needs to thrive.
This was good to know - mangos is the number one fruit you should be eating, it has 2 components in it that keep the virus from replicating. A study in China said the these two components in mangos were more effective in preventing replication than prescription drugs for herpes. I have two in the fridge now. I will be eating them daily from now on. Said you could also put the mango on the sores too. Starting to sound like the movie 9 1/2 weeks huh?
Book recommened if you are gonna do the oxgenation process start with a good old colon cleansing, this helps rid of toxins in the body and helps in the absorption of nutrients. Also says do not eat hydrogenated foods, they counteract with oxygenation. The aurthur of this book believes that going through the oxygenation process can actually rid your body of this virus, it can't live in a body that is fully oxygenated. And recommend getting a western blot blood test after living 6 months without an outbreak after starting the oxygenation therapy. I am personally going to attempt the oxygenation recommendations and I will let you know how it turns out.

Answer:
Be careful with the DMSO and H202. I followed the procedure in the book and it led to increases and more severe outbreaks. I believed it mutated the virus into a form more virulent. Since I tired it, I went from occasional outbreaks, maybe once a year to outbreaks every two weeks and in more places. I contacted the people at neveranoutbreak and they said I was overoxygenated. They recommended I start from scratch; no supplements, just the 3 day applications of DMSO. Which I did, and I had an outbreak during that time.

I've always taken vitamins and still do, but they have yet to be effective against preventing outbreaks. Be careful with the garlic too; it's not harmfull, but you'll start to stink after a while. :)
