Echinacea & Olive Leaf Extract
Question: I have been having non-stop OBs for the past year and I am so sick of it....so, I was put on Acyclovir which hasn't seemed to help much. Today I bought Olive Leaf Extract, Echinacea & Zinc to add to my regular dosages of C, A, E, etc. Can anyone give me advice on dosages? Can Olive Leaf & Echinacea be taken simultaneously? I've found in my reading that it is not recommended to take Echinacea longterm because it becomes less effective.....so, what do others out there do with Echinacea as a long term treatment (on 3 days, off 3 days.....or another scenario)? How much Olive Leaf per day & can it e taken longterm? Please advise....I'm desperate! Answer: okay.. i had a similar problem, where i had like three oBs, one after another.. so i took a : -1 mutivitamin -1 zinc -2 vit. C -1 vitamin b complex -2 echanasia - 1 st john's wart - 2-3 LYSINE.. (when oB are present) you didn't mention lysine in your diet... so make sure you go get them too (I have read it is MOST IMPORTANT) Vitamin c, Echanasia, and lysine can be taken 2-3 times a day... vitamin C is good and you can take alot of it (don't worry..), lysine you need it to fight the virus (recommended take 2000-2500mg a day), and the euchasia (used to boost immune system, when sick..) so you don't be afraid to take them. ( like you said.. don't take them tahat often b/c anything over long term, may loose effectiveness.) the key is to keep the immune system strong enough to fight the virus.. ... GET the LYsine, if you want something to take on a regular bases (dosage after you obs is over: like 1 or 2 every three days or so) .... it is more important then the vitmin c, do your research... concerning what you said about the euchasia losing effectiveness taken everyday.. only take it when you ARE SICK.. or if you feel the syptoms coming on.. lysine should always be in your diet.. its the key to keep the virus in check.. some people take it everyday.. but i take it, three days or so.. so my body has enough to ward off the virus, rather then a BOMBARDMENT where my body DEPENDS on it, so take it "when you remember" i say hope that helps a little Answer: Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it. As for L-Lysine, yes I do take it, but not as high of a dosage as you mentioned. So, I will definitely up that to 2000-2500mg per day during an OB. Thanks! Answer: I just take Olive Leaf Extract. Works fine! Used to take L-lysine too but now no need to already. Seems like OLE alone can slowly cure you... and reduce viral shedding significantly too. My daily intake of OLE was around 10-16 caps per day which I slowly reduced as the OBs got less frequent. Now, I'm only taking it if I feel something is wrong. Else, I'm just perfectly fine without taking anything. Answer: Hey astroboy.....when you say you took 10-16 a day....what was the dosage of each. That seems like a lot to me...but what do I know, I'm new to this "natural remedy" thing. Answer: I meant around 3 or 4 dosages totally 10-16 caps a day. So each dosage is around 4-6 caps. Answer: I have 150mg capsules. How many mg are your Olive leaf extract capsules? Answer: I take the 300mg capsules with 18% active compound which is Oleuopein. Which means roughly 200mg to 250mg of the active compound per dosage. But I'm on the light side as I weigh only 50 kg. Please calculate accordingly for your body weight. Answer: Should lysine be taken daily or just during outbreaks? I've been taking 500 mg daily for about a week (i was just diagnosed with type 2and i've never had an outbreak). Also, my girlfriend tested negative, will taking lysine daily help her at all from staying uninfected? I've also read a little about how your body develops immunities, does taking these vitamins help with that or will they make your body rely on the vitamins instead of building immunities? What is cat's claw and how have they helped or not helped any of you? Thanks for the help. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
