dont want to put a dampers on everything but/............
Question: I have had herpes (genital) for 20 years now. The good news is i went on to marry someone who was herpes free and did not ever catch herpes and i have two wonderful children despite having attacks when pregnant. the downside is that for the past 8 years i have had recurrent herpes which they thought were linked to my period but proved not to be. I was on acyclovir for a year ot two then it stopped working. Then i tried a homeapthic treatment with cost about $1000 and that stopped me having attacks for a year or so then i started getting them again and went on to famvir which is now not working. I have also been told that i cannot take long term famvir now for a couple of months. The only product i have not tried is Valtrx. Although i am ultra careful not to pass it on to anyoene else which can be tricky given that i have been having attacks every month and though the spots are not that severe the other sypmtoms are i.e. feeling depressed, tired etc etc. I recently bought choraphor which seemed to work initially but this time i have a really bad outbreak and its has done nothing at all to help. Two weeks into the worse attack i have ever had and taking famvir and topical pencyclovir and chorophor initally. Plus salt baths and tea tree etc i am beginning to think this bloody virus has got the better of me. Very unhappy! Answer: Thankyou very much, yinyang, for posting your story. :) I'm sorry to hear that you're having such bad outbreaks... :( I've only recently been infected, and have my fingers crossed... It is very positive though, to hear that you have not passed on the virus to your partner. This is something that I fear in my future. Answer: Well if its any consolation i caught herpes from a boyfiend while travelling in my twenties. I found out i had herpes officially a few months before i was due to be married to a person that was not infected. I got myself in a right state because i thought he wouldn't marry me but when i told him about it he was great. And during that time i was particularly careful not to pass it on,. !5 years is a long time. Answer: Yinyang, Can you please tell me what kind of precautions you took (and are taking now), to prevent passing on the virus... I'm sure it would be very helpful to many other people visiting this forum, also... Even the smallest thing may be very useful... Thankyou! :) Answer: First of all practice safe sex is a must with a new partner and always ensure your partner washes immediately after sex. I was lucky in that my husband although he is now ex husband was born muslem and had scrupulous hygiene and was circumcised. Apparently someone who is circumcised has far les risk of catching anything than someone who isn.t . I have spoken to lots of people and many people have sex and dont wash afterwards until the morning. leaving every possiblity however remote for something to stay in the system longer. I am guessing from your log in you are male so i would assume you would make sure your partner uses a female condom to protect her. During my marriage i didn;t practice safe sex at all however as soon as i had a predrome or slight tingling sex was not on the agenda. Not even safe saex. so always remember whenever you feel that tingle is a reminder not to have any kind of sexual intercouse. I know it is possible to pass the virus on if you have viral shedding but in all the time i was married this never happened. I think alot of people of not aware of their bodies and i was always acutely aware of what was happening. As for the reason i have recurrent attacks now i am told that its because my immune system is compromised as i have chrohns disease and it makes me more suspectible to illness. Oh and find a sympathetic healthcare worker that understands herpes. Good luck Answer: Thankyou again, yinyang! :) I had heard that warm soapy water kills the virus immediately, so washing after sex would be a good way of reducing the likelyhood of transmission. I will continue to post my experiences on this forum also, in the hopes they may be helpful to someone... Good luck to you too in finding some relief from the symtoms. Answer: Not true. I washed immediately after sex with an ex. With soap too. Still got it. Having my second outbreak now. And it's only a week after the first one has healed. I have had genital Herpes for over 9 years, it comes and goes infact i am going through an out break right now. I have tried lots of things nothing seems to work for me.i have had two outbreaks in the last three weeks they make me feel dirty and depressed. i live in london england. People over here do not talk about herpes openly i have never told any of my friends. Its a secret, a dirty secret. i see a lot of things on thew market they are very expensive. i used lemon balm which is cheap about £4 tea tree oil is ok for the healing. i think my body gets used to the supressives i use after a while and get strong over them. I am trying to come to terms with having herpes but it is difficult.the tingling is just as bad you sit there thinking are you gonna come or not you little bastards. i was at university the other day dying for the loo i tried to hold it because i knew that the blisters will sting the hell out of me. any advice? Answer: Amen to YingYang's comment about finding an understanding healthcare worker. I was fortunate to have found a healthcare worker who actually has hsv2. It was very comforting to know that she had it also. It just helped me to feel like I was not alone. I know the statistics say that 1 out of 4 people have hsv, but it seems that you are the only one that has it and there is no one to talk to about it. It is also amazing to me that many healthcare workers do not understand this virus and they look at you like you are the plague. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
