Question:
I was diagnosed with herpes and have only been with one guy so I of course am sure it's from him, we're still together however I am curious because he has never had an outbreak. My doctor told me that some people can be carriers for the virus and never have an outbreak. I assume this is what he is but I would like more info if anyone can help. Is this possible, or did I get herpes in some other way? Is his immune system strong enough that he's never had an outbreak or what? Any help would be great. Thanks

I am in the SAME situation! Lost my freakin virginity to this guy just 2 weeks ago and like 2 days later I start breaking out. Ive known him for about 4years and we have been close friends just about from day one. Hes never had an outbreak and actually believes that he is "clean" because he had a full STD screening about 2 months ago and everything cleared. Im not really sure if he knew what he was being tested for though. After he saw the OB he started second guessing and says he wants to get tested again. *sigh* Im the only one hes been with since he had those other tests tho. So my luck would be that I get something like this when I lose my virginity. Well thats what im thinking. Im not angry with him, but I just dont understand any of this at all. How could it happen to me and not him? Im still awaiting my test results but the dr pretty much diagnosed that it was herpes on the spot. I dont think that you can really get it any other way unless there is close physical contact between 2 people, one having to be the carrier. :?

Hey thanks for replying, it's comforting to know that someone else is in the same situation although I'd rather neither of us be in it. We've been together a year and I got all STD tests after we had been together a while and they rattled off all I Was tested for and I thought herpes was one so I assumed I Was ok until the outbreak. I know he didn't cheat and as I learn more I know I cant be mad at him if he never had an outbreak. My doctor said most arent tested for herpes unless they have symptoms and since its a blood test its expensive so I realize he didnt know until now. Anyway I'm just rambling about this but if you would like to talk about it let me know, I know its hard to deal with especially in the situation we're in.
