please help me....

Question:
i have read alot of differant things on products that people use, can anyone tell me what seems to work the best and what i can get over the counter, i have no insurance and cant afford the valtrex or famiver, i have heard lysine works well, but is there anything that i can get that may work well with it?

Answer:
im sorry things arent working out. i have tried lysine, vitamin c, and olive leaf extract. they seemed to work alright, but i still managed to get a big outbreak on my lip. got desperate and resorted to acyclovir. i take 400mg twice a day. its been working very well. it is expensive though. however, if you live in the US, you can buy acyclovir from the costco online pharmacy for dirt cheap (the generic anyway). i hope this helps... this is just my story. others might be able to help you in what they think works best for them. good luck.

Answer:
Hi medsec,
in my experience Lysine does help... and I too didn't have insurance and couldn't afford much. that's how I discovered how much changing my eating habits helped. I cut way down on sugar, caffeine, and foods high in argenine, and saw a HUGE difference. I know it's not a magic pill, but it's inexpensive, and it really does work.
good luck.

Answer:
I have read that "vitamins" that may help include; Vitamin C, E and a good B complex vitamin. Centrum Forte seems to be a complete vitamin source.

Eating habits as posted prior are also very important. Great suggestions about Coffee and sugar and don't forget alcohol in moderation.

Appparently dairy products can also aggravate symptoms. Try to avoid anything that places stress on your nervous system.

As well, getting adequate rest may go a long way in helping.

Answer:
Im in the same situation as you. Im currently taking about 3000mg of lysine per day with about 500mg of Olive leaf extract, Vits C, and E and I just started taking cats claw today.

I did get an outbreak about a week after my first one healed, but this one is not even close to the severity of the other one. I am hoping that they go away and dont turn into lesions or anything. So possibly the vitamins and herbs are doing me a good thing :)

Also this sounds really gross but I read that putting ear wax on your outbreak helps. So, I did this last night on 1 bump and sure nuff it has gone down! Just sucks that I dont have enuf tonight to do the same for the other bump that popped up LMAO
