Just diagnosed...is this outbreak over???

Question:
I just had my first outbreak almost 3 weeks ago. I was put on Valtrex for 10 days and was taking Lysine 1000 a day, after reading up on it (figured it cant hurt) I used zinc oxide on the bisters, which helped a little, and also put myself on a vitamin B and C complex. (the stress of this isnt helping ) Well after 2 long weeks the pain and blisters are gone, thank god!! Question is...Im still getting the burning and itching and you can visibly see where the blisters were. Does this mean that my outbreak is not quite over yet? and when it is over are these symptoms going to go away? Looks like i have scars from the blisters even though Ive read that you wont have any visible sign of them once your outbreak is gone. Im a bit confused, this is all new to me...unfortunately. Thanks for your help! Jen

Answer:
I'm going through the same thing, I just had my first outbreak and I'm having all of the same things going on with me too. I have read until I'm sick of it. I can't seem to find much on first outbreaks on line. So, if someone replys please let me know what you find out.
Also, how long after your first out break do you need to wait to have sex, if you have these sym. present?

Answer:
I had my first outbreak about 4 weeks ago. Took about 2 weeks to go away and then 1 week later it was back. Dr. put back on Valtrax, not sure if it helps or not. Burning and itching still continues... My question that I have not been able to find any answer to.

HOW LONG CAN HERPES LAY DORMANT IN A PERSON?

I have been faithfully married to the same person for 8 1/2 years. Never had any STD. Now all of a sudden I develop herpes. Husband says he hasn't cheated. I know I haven't. Anybody have any documentation of this kind?

Help.... I don't know what to belive. I have become a very bitter person.

Answer:
Just so you know....I got my first outbreak after 15 years of marriage. I have been faithful and hope he has been, but my partner before I met my husband had herpes.

Answer:
I've had Herpes for over 10 years. It initially showed up on my thigh where my leg meets up with my buttocks. It came out after a very long, tiring drive to Florida. I fell asleep on a raft in my Aunt's pool because I was so exhausted and the back of my body got sunburned. The next day I noticed blisters on my leg, I thought it was the sunburn. Realized it was more than that weeks later when it showed up again. I went to a doctor and we determined that I probably picked up the virus while sitting on a wet towel at a friend's pool party. I remembered contemplating whether to sit on a wet towel that someone else sat on (yep, I'm a little freaky about germs!) but it never occured to me that I could get anything, let alone Herpes from something like that.

My immune system has never been really strong and my Mom had died the year before and I sunk into a depression, so the immune system was
really bad. I still get outbreaks in that original area and months after the
initial outbreak they started showing up on my right buttock. I theorize that I either had contact in that area initially or I transferred the virus myself somehow. Recently I've also had outbreaks closer to my genitals now, which I think is from sexual contact.

Initially I took Zovirax, which didn't help a whole lot. A few years ago I changed my diet and changed how I handled stress, which really helped.
I had a tragedy in Dec. and the outbreaks are showing up often and in new places. I have strep throat right now and have three areas that have
outbreaks.

I of course tell people I'm involved with, although I've always been suprised at how accepting boyfriends have been. I always educated them because most people are so ignorant about the virus and the fact that it's more than an STD.

I just ordered Viraderm this morning. I eat alot of organic foods, take supps and avoid medication, but I can't handle how bad the outbreaks are right now. I posted last night to see if anyone else had used it, but then decided I'd give it a try anyway. I had it Fedexed so I'll have it tomorrow. I'll post results if anyone else is interested...

Answer:
i have been recently diagnosed with Herpes, and it hurts, a lot at that. what can i do to ease the pain a bit? it has become so bad that i have been unable to attend my classes for days. I don't know what to do. Is there any way to make the pain go away?

Answer:
I was just diagnosed on Nov. 10 with genital herpes. This is the worst pain I have ever felt and I have been feeling it for about a week now. My doctor gave me
Acyclovir tabs to take 3 times a day for 10 days and I am also using this cream that contains Benzocaine. The cream really really helps for about 2 hours then goes away leaving me to where I can barely walk. Before I was diagnosed, I had severe blisters and now that I have been using the pills and the cream, my vagina has started to swell to where i cannot see the blisters anymore. I do not know if this is part of the healing process or not because I am still in serious serious pain! If anyone knows if this is normal...please let me know!!! Please!

My first outbreak was terrible, too. I had high fever, lots of discharge, blister, headache, body pain,... Though I went to see a doctor and got a treatment, it lasted long. I stayed in bed for more than a week and it took a long time to heal completely.
The initial outbreak is usually the worst. As you keep getting recurrences, the symptom will become lighter.

But the thing you just described reminds me of something. One time I had a big blister, and it hurt so much, more than usual, and it seemed not going away, around the blister started to swell. I happened to have a doctor's appointment, he looked at the blister that became inflamed, and gave me antibiotic cream instead of antiviral.
You may be having an other kind of infection at the same time, and may need different treatment....

Hmm...but basically, I think you can wait and see a couple of more days.. I think it'll start to heal...(it takes a while for medicine to work.. plus Acyclovir is not a pain reliever, so....)
But I'm not a doctor, I can't tell.... if the pain is too much, and the vagina swells more... I would go see a doctor again...

Please take care..
