Question:
Has anyone had any side effects when taking lysine daily for a long time (over a year)?

I have been taking 1000mg of lysine a day for a little over a year now, and a month ago i got a rash on my chest and back that does not itch but has not gone away.

i'm worried this is because of the lysine.

help, anyone?

it makes me constipated. lol Thats the only effect its had on me so far. I have to be careful with it, and try taking every other day.

I take lysine intensively (like 2000mg) during outbreaks (no other medication) but maybe just 500mg a day when I don't have outbreaks.
Also, consume lysine through food like cheese or dairy products. Maybe that will prevent constipation.
Last time I talked to a pharmacist, he said if you take more than what your body needs, it will just come out through your urine.

wow, I been taking 3 grams a day!! The only reson why is because I read I should.....thats a 1000 mg three times a day. I really think thats too much....but I dont want the herpes to ever come back. I only had two out breaks so far. Now that I know what the tingling feels like and whats going to happpen, I think I will just get so upset if I ever feel a tingle again.
