How to treat genital herpes???

Question:
Hi everybody :D

In the rules of this board I've read that no advertising is allowed - this is really reasonable.

But how can I learn something about the methods / medicaments which are the most effective ones  ???

Surely you all know these testimonials on the sites of the companies who sell medicaments against herpes. They all sound fantastic :!: But do the products really keep what they promise :?:

It would be nice if you could tell me where I can get true experiences

Answer:
Well, I think wherever people are thought to be "sufferring" from something, there are charlatans lurking trying to sell you on some late great treatment, therapy or even cure. They are great salespeople.

There are some synthetic drugs that suppress this virus' reproduction (the widely known antiviral drugs like acyclovir and its derivatives) and some people claim to have gotten great results from certain herbs (e.g., St. John's Wart, bayberry root bark) and some amino acids (most notably lysine). Of course, dosage is a concern for all of these.

But I come back to the basics: (1) This is a virus, and there has never been a cure found for any viral disease. There are obviously vaccines for some, but of course, vaccines are not medical cures. They just keep you from getting the disease. They cant help you once you have it.

(2) No matter what they say, this virus resides in nerve cells. No matter what you apply to the exterior of your skin, that has nothing to do with the viral machinery lodged inside the nuclei of your nerve cells.

So until there is some truly nobel prize quality "discovery" of how to segregate virally-infected cells from healthy cells, I'm not too impressed with the variety of commercial testimonials. And I think its fair to say that this ilk of research is truly backburner anyway because frankly, its just too hard. It's a better use of research dollars to work on the vaccine end-which is hard enough-- and the immune/suppressive therapy end.

I said all that to say I don't think you are missing much if you don't stumble into the "advertisements" such as you mentioned. [/quote]
