fingering/touching other foreplay with herpes

Question:
What are some guidelines or suggestions about fingering, handjobs, or any other kind of touching of genitals between and during outbreaks. A lot of these discussions discuss oral sex but not other kinds of foreplay. Suggestions/experiences/comments??

thanks :)

Suggestions/experiences/comments??thanks :) If you are trying to learn more about how herpes is transmitted I would like to suggest reading the free herpes handbook over on www.westoverheights.com

That should help you,

I'm interested in this too. I read the handbook and it didn't really cover this topic, just that it is unlikely to pass it on to yourself through touching. But isn't that because you build up antibodies that protect yourself? But if someone touched me while I was shedding and then a few minutes later went to the bathroom, then what? Could there still be active virus on their hand?

I know this is kind of an old thread but I hope someone can shed some light.

A warm and moist environment is not usually found on the hands.

I'm glad that you had time to read the transmission section because it pretty much covers herpes transmission to a T.

But if someone touched me while I was shedding and then a few minutes later went to the bathroom, then what? If somebody touched you where? On your mouth or on your genitals? It's not going to be easy to transmit the virus if the circumestances are not just right.

Could there still be active virus on their hand? Not unless they had herpetic whitlow or some herpes condition like that.. but even then herpes is more easily transmitted through sex and kissing while there is active herpes virus on the surface of the skin in those warm and moist environments.

Hope this helps,

Angela

I know this is kind of an old thread but I hope someone can shed some light. I think your intuition is right. I think in your example there could easily be active virus on their hand. During sex, their hand does not stay dry but becomes as wet and moist as whatever it was touching. At that point it can be a fairly good conveyor. I have not infected any sexual partner (male or female) during extensive sexual contact. My advice (assuming nobody has cuts on their hands): your partner should not touch your genitals, fluids or any skin irritation you have anywhere on your body, and then also touch their own genitals, eyes or mouth. They should wash their hands in between. And it's not so hard or intrusive to do actually especially when both parties are being conscientious. You can also keep a moistened cloth near you with alcohol on it or something in the event you think there was a "slip".

I was recently diagnosed with genital herpes from oral sex, and before i had any symptoms or any knowledge of what i had i was fingered by somebody else. A week later he got a rash on his hand, and i'm really worreid that he got herpes whitlow. I do not want to tell him that I have genital herpes, in fear that he will tell others. I don't know what to do, because i'm not even supposed to know that he has a rash on a his finger, because he told his best friend that told his sister, that im friends with and she knows what i have and told me about it. Does anyone think they can help me with this situation???? Is it possible that he contracted herpes?
