I'm just starting to research the developing technologies, so I may be posting this prematurely, but I can't resist posting this article here--http://focus.hms.harvard.edu/2005/Jan14_2005/micro biology.html. Apparently this vaccine has been in the works some 15 years and these guys Straus & Knipe haven't been able to conduct a human trial due to lack of sponsorship (article even cites that drug companies stand to lose money on vaccines as opposed to ongoing drug therapy), but the latest animal trial is hopeful enough that it may help the cause.
