Welcome to www.thanktoday.com !!!

I had hsv and delivered 3 girls

Question:
vaginally. I never told my doc I thought I had herpes. I did have an ob about 3 weeks prior to delivery.

My first dd has a rare eye disease, she is beautiful in the face but her eyelid moves up and down when she chews (only if she is looking down) I know sounds weird it's called Marcus Gunn's Jaw Winking Syndrome. So was it caused from the herpes I had weeks prior to del. I will never know, but ladies please don't take the chance. My other two girls are fine but God if I could do it over, now that I am older and wiser, I would of had them all c section or have had my doc do that test. (that wld be the first choice btw)

PLEASE tell your docs, I was so stupid and I know this as I live with the guilt of possibly hurting my daughter. She could be a model she is so pretty, but has also been teased at school and I blame me.

She is okay now, no teasing in like 5 years, really no one even knows she has this unless you are really watching her eat

Prob not a lot of help but if you want to know anything just let me know pm or whatever. I have never talked about this to anyone in 18 years, so here I am, out of the norm of my world

Answer:
Hi skigirl - I'm sorry your daughter has that disease. I have never heard of it. Have you read of any assoication between it and herpes? Maybe by having her tested for herpes you would be able to rule out herpes as the cause if she doesn't test positive. That way you could stop blaming yourself. Even if she does have herpes though, you shouldn't blame yourself. It's very possible that even if you had told your doc she would have recommended a vaginal delivery since you didn't have an OB close to delivery.

Have your other 2 girls been affected at all?

Thanks for sharing your story.
Sincerely,
Stacy

Answer:
Oh, no she is not infected at all, it is just the way her eye nerves and jaw nerves are connected, they cannot fix it either, but no she doesn't have herpes. My other two are fine as well. My oldest is 13, the one with the eye problem. Since I had an ob at 3 months I wasn't sure if it did something inside to cause the syndrome, I have read alot about it and nothing relates to herpes but I'll always wonder.

I really got lucky that they didn't contract it, as I mentioned not telling my doctor before. I was stupid and I hope that I can help others to be more open. I am the worst about confrontations, that is why no one in my family or my husband knows I have this. I just got my meds online.
