shaving and cleanliness

Question:
I have a couple of questions:

1. I am used to shaving my "area" completely and I have been diagnosed through a culture that I have HSV which one I still haven't heard. Is it possible to spread it though shaving my "area"? Is it safe to get a brazilian wax or to be lasered??? I have been doing this for 6 years and am used to being hairless down there.

2. Also, I like to clean my area, is it safe to clean my "area" with my hands, I always make sure to wash my hands after I clean that area. What if I have an outbreak, is it safe to clean it with my bare hands and wash my hands afterwards???

Would appreciate any info....

Answer:
I have been informed by my gynecologist that shaving is not such a good idea. She has told me that a lot of infections/viruses...etc. can be acquired or spread through shaving this particular area. Plus, with razor burn and such, it can be pretty painful! Based on this, I have been advised against shaving. I'm also looking into waxing...heard it might be safer.

I would think that it would be fairly unharmful if you washed your area with your hands, just make sure to always wash them afterwards. I do the same thing. However, if you have an outbreak it might be too painful down there to touch...it was like that for me. Any contact I had with my infected area during an outbreak I would always wash my hands after, so I think you are taking the necessary precautions!
