lysine may lower immune system?

Question:
I was checking out this website called http://www.natropractica.com about Holistic healing for herpes. There is some information on the site that states that Lysine can lower your immune system. I emailed the gentleman to find out what he meant.

Has anyone seen such studies about Lysine. I am curious since I have taken it before.

Answer:
L-lysine doesn't do anything for herpes nor has it ever been proven via clinical studies to do anything for herpes.

I am familiar with the site that you mentioned as well as the guy that runs the site and to be honest ~ I don't think he has all of his herpes facts straight either.

Just my opinion,

Angela

Answer:
I take Lysine to help the immune system. I certainly don't think it does anything for herpes....just like most herbs for immune system. It helps the body.

I haven't heard or seen any articles or studies about what this gentleman has told me.

Answer:
Too much L-Lysine is not safe for your body so be sure and check with your doctor for the proper amounts that would be good for you.

Good luck,

Angela

Angela  Angela, I think ur blanket statement is too strong and unjustified. Are you implying that there is nothing positive about lysine for herpes?

Answer:
Thanks Angela, I have gone through your other post and i admit the evidence for lysine is not conclusive but i feel that for some one to say that lysine does not have anything to do with herpes is also unjustified. The truth is that there is some evidence for benefits of lysine supplementation but its not conclusive.

Answer:
There's discussion about what works for some and not for others. We talk about stress and contributors and such causing outbreaks. What about the mind, some people feel that something is working for them, even though statistically it has no effect.

Mind can be very healing, right?

Answer:
