Bought some supplements and herbs... any recommendations?
Question: Hi everyone, I'm new here. Got herpes (oral) from a friend in January, and now I'm blessed with a cold sore every two weeks... so about 2-3 every month. Basically, they aren't terribly huge or ugly like what other's may experience, but they do keep coming back much more often than I would like. It's really embarrasing and depressing. So, after much research, I bought the following supplements: 1) DIM (Diindolylmethane) complex - 100mg 2) Acidophilus - 200mg 3) Monolaurin - 300mg 4) Vit C w/ Bioflavanoids - 500mg 5) BHT in 350mg capsules 6) Red Marine Algae - 375mg 7) Garlic Oil Concentrate - 3mg (equal to one whole clove) 8) Vit B 100 complex - 100mcg's for each type 9) L-Lysine - 1000mg In addition, I went overboard and bougth the following products: 1) The Joshua Solution - Cold Sore Remedy - liquid topical treatment 2) *Pure Lip Remedy w/ Zinc 3) Lemon Balm creme 4) Origin Cold Sore Lip Shield 5) Labella lip gloss 6) Badger lip gloss w/ SPF 15 (zinc oxide) 7) Campho-Phenique 8) Abreva 9) Herpecin-L * My personal favorite... with daily application the sore is healed within one week... and by that I mean the scab is gone and the skin is almost entirely back to normal (not red anymore) ----- Basically, I'm interested in hearing your... a) dosage recommendations for the supplements/vitamins b) what combination(s) in the list you take, or recommend c) and whether they have helped reduce the frequency of OBs! Also, if you have other suggestions, I would love to hear them![/list] Answer: awe i had just written this huge reply and somehow i lost it. sucks. anyways i wanted to say that it sucks that no one replied to this and that i hope your doing well.... and that i think that since you say that your outbreaks arent horrible, i wouldnt take that many supplements, maybe just the garlic, lysine, red marine algea, vitamin c, and b12. and id alternate the lysine to every other week, and maybe experiment with the bht but that i dont trust it because its not natural. splash some hydrogen peroxide on the blister twice a day and let air dry during the outbreak and on the area of the OB a couple times a week just to keep from reoccuring. green tea lots of antioxidants. the hydrogen peroxide i read works well for cold sores and a bit from personal experience.... hope this helps if you still need the help or for anyone else thats reading. take care.
