can HSV 2 on lips infect genitals with HSV 2 in oral sex?
Question: ok, I have a few questions I just can't find the answer on the web: 1)can HSV 2 on lips infect genitals with HSV 2 in oral sex? 2) can HSV 1 on lips infect genitals with HSV 1 in oral sex? I'll try to make it more clear: sex partner 1 has HSV 2 on lips. sex partner 1 give oral pleasure (ok, blowjob) to sex partner 2. would partner get infected ? same question with HSV 1. Answer: Yes, cross-infection can occur. But as you seem to be aware, there are things you can do to minimise the risk: suppressive therapy; using condoms; avoiding contact during outbreaks... Answer: absolutely the two can cross over. (you receive oral sex from someone who has hsv2 on their lips, then you can get it on your genitals. Or you can get hsv1 on your genitals should you have oral sex performed on you by someone with THAT. AND visa versa) Fun eh? :( The one good thing I have noticed with coldsores/herpes on the mouth/lips, we seem more aware when an outbreak is coming, it is much more noticeable than the genital region, thus, one should know when to abstain from kissing and oral sex. As dangermouse also pointed out, there IS suppressive meds and using condoms or dental dams to help prevent contracting the virus. :) Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
