Any input on Lysine??????
Question: What is up with this Lysine thing .... ???? HAs any one tryed it .. does it work ..???? Answer: I take a lysine supplement, and while there is no "proof" that it works, I find when I do NOT take it, I am more prone to outbreaks. So I take a daily vitamin at 500mgs. If I am having an outbreak or FEEL one coming on, I take about 1000 mgs. You can pick it up cheap at places like Trader Joes. I also find that a diet high in protein and low in crappy carbs (breads, pastas, sugars, etc.) keeps my outbreak at bay. Since I had my son, my eating habits are HORRIBLE (lots of crappy carbs) and I notice that I have had more outbreaks ...as well as I think my raging hormonal fluctuations causing more outbreaks. Only recently I have gotten my outbreaks back under control. (knock on wood...don't want to jinx it, hahaha) I can't use suppressive meds, they don't work on me, so I have to use alternative methods (which is fine for me, as I am not big on meds!) My last sign of an outbreak, I did use Chorphor and it cleared up the sore in one day! Prior to that, I used it in the midst of a BAD outbreak and it cleared that one up in about 4 days. so perhaps the combination of all the above (diet, lysine, Choraphor...etc.) have all contributed to helping me. Everyone is different, so the best thing I can suggest if using yourself as you own "guinea pig" to see what works best for you. Oh, I should mention, I also take vitamin C and a bcomplex....(b's are good for your central nervous system.) Good luck to you! I hope you feel better! Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
