Conflicting Herpes Information
Question: I was tested for both types of Herpes and should get results on Monday or Tuesday. My test is very specified being that I'm being tested for past and present. In the meantime, my boyfriend saw his Internist and had blood taken a few weeks ago. The test came back as him having type 1 and type 2. She was able to tell him that type 2 was active and he's had it for a long time. Then last week he saw his Urologist who said that the blood tests are inaccurate and that when you are positive for type 1 they automatically classify you as having type 2. He believes that unless you have an outbreak you do not have Herpes 2 at all. Is this true? My boyfriend has never had an outbreak in his life and neither have I. I'm just tired of hearing different things from different doctors. I will speak with my Gynecologist once I get the results back about boyfriend's Urologist's comments. This all started when boyfriend's ex-wife found out she has type 1 and type 2 and was told type 2 is dormant and has to be monitored regularly. Answer: There are type specific tests. The Western Blot test and the Pockit Test can tell you which type you have. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
