Is this what Valtrex does?
Question: When I had my first outbreak 8 months ago, I started taking Valtrex. I expected instant relief, but I learned that Valtrex only stops the replication of the virus. About a week ago, I thought I might be having my second outbreak. I didn't really have the symptoms, but I had some itching and a small, questionable spot on my labia. After about 4 days, I decided to start taking Valtrex. I took it for 3 days, the full recommended prescription, and everything is fine now. I don't know if Valtrex is responsible, or if it wasn't an outbreak and would've cleared up anyway. Would Valtrex prevent an outbreak if taken early enough? Thanks! RK in OH Answer: yes it can - thats why they tell you to start taking it at the first sign of prodome - but you may still be shedding. It also can lessen the length of the OB - thats what it does for me. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
