My pregnancies were just fine!

Question:
My first son who would be 13 died in a car accident and my soon to be 11 year old..nothing went wrong in my pregnancies.

I had no outbreak at all. And not for 4 mths following delivery. If you have no outbreak at time of delivery you can deliver vaginally.

Don't let em tell you nothing else.

Answer:
I want to get my tubes tied. Am I moving to fast? I just found out 3 days ago that I am infected. I don't know what to do. I would hate to infect a child if I were to get pregnant.

Answer:
Mrs. Taylor5, my condolences about the passing of your older child. I have no words other than my sincerest sympathy as well as empathy, as a mother.

And it is true that there are many women with genital herpes that have normal pregnancies and deliveries. If the one who is pregnant and their doctor determine at the time of delivery for things to be in the "clear" than absolutely a woman can have a vaginal birth. BUT...I also feel that women should be aware of all their options, and if they do opt for csection (despite no sign of an outbreak) than it is her right to do so. Ultimately, i feel it should be up to the woman having the baby and what HER comfort zone is....doctors and society be damned. We have the right to choose to bring life forth into this world...or not, then I feel we have the right to determine what is best for our babies when they are born.

which leads me to Michelle....yes, do not get your tubes tied, you just found out, you are in shock. Get your tubes tied if you feel that you absolutely DO NOT want kids, nor do you like them. Get them tied if you have a fear of passing on a serious mental condition (like Schizophrenia, which is/can be hereditary) . Get your tubes tied if you are emotionally and mentally unstablel; get your tubes tied if you are prone to fits of rage or anger and act violently. THEN get your tubes tied. (I believe firmly that people should be licenced to have kids..but that is a whole different rant for a different forum).

Do not act hastily and have your tubes tied because you fear you might pass herpes onto an unborn. As MrsT stated, many women DO have kids, vaginally, and do not pass it onto them. Also, you DO have the option of csection if you are that fearful of passing the herpes virus onto a newborn. Otherwise, other than taking a few extra precautions, you do not have to worry about passing on herpes.

Give yourself some time to heal emotionally, study up on the virus, and you will see that things will be ok.

Good luck.

Answer:
Thank you. I will consider it. I wish everyone the best and myself. I will continue to take this day by day. My fitness instructor said exercise helps with the stress and can prevent break outs. Is that true?

Answer:
Well Michelle,
I have exercised since a teenager..and right now I do weightlifting and kickboxing, I still have the same number of outbreaks.

This is gonna sound wierd but I've had it for bout 16 yrs. and I notice that when I am NOT sexual with a man, I have no outbreaks. One time I didn't have an outbreak for 7 years! But...I have it on virtual consistent manner when I am sexually active. I'd say about every other mth..I'll get a sore. Only one at a time though usually. They are like cuts. If I am having a bad one I'll get like 4 at a time, it sucks. But that doesn't happen very often.
