no outbreaks in 4 mos

Question:
First off, everyone is different so I'm not saying this is a magical cure, but I am having a LOT of success with this and wanted to share since it may help at least one person out there.
I'm 39 and have had GH for 18 years. The last few years have been horrible, at least 1 outbreak a month, sometimes more.
Back in October I found this board and finally tried to take control of my life.

The biggest thing I did? I quit eating nuts all together. I quit eating walnuts a few years ago when I found out they triggered cancer sores, I haven't had cancer sores since I quit eating walnuts.

So around Nov I quit all nuts. I haven't had a GH outbreak since. I cant remember the last time I went for 4 months without an OB. This may not work for everyone, but for me its been a life saver.
I have a friend who also has GH but she doesn't have regular outbreaks and I couldn't figure out why she wasn't...then I remembered she's never eaten any nuts.

I will admit I also gave in and bought H-balm which I've been using every day. Is it helping? I'm not sure, maybe, its definately not hurting. But I honestly believe the nuts thing is the magical cure for me.

The other things I did: I got a brazilian laser treatment, I think removing my pubic hair may have helped too, just reduces the friction, etc. in the area.
My OB's also tended to coincide with my period a lot so I also had surgery (uterine ablation) so I have minimal or no periods anymore.
Yes, I took this to the extreme but I was seriously at the end of my rope and almost suicidal over this.
Hope this may help someone else.

Answer:
Congratulations! Those nuts you were eating were really bad, Walnuts are very high in Arginine. They have 2,520 mg of Arginine and only 466 mg of Lysine. Almonds are pretty bad too, 3,540 mg of Arginine and 466 mg of Lysine. Avoid all nuts, all corn and corn derived products. I have gone as much as 7 months without an outbreak, but it seems that when it’s going good like that I always get careless and eat something I shouldn’t. Last time I went out and had a huge thing of popcorn, used artificial sweeteners and a few other things and I triggered a pretty good outbreak. It seems with me that after going a good stretch of time the virus starts looking for a way to come out, so after 3 or 4 months if I do anything or eat anything wrong it will come out. It just seems that way, I’m not sure if that is truly what it is doing.
Sounds like you are serious about this, and that’s good, I wish you further success. I’m not sure about the hair thing, I always thought we had hair under our arms and around our genitals because it’s a good dry lubricant. Without hair you have skin rubbing on skin.
Take care and keep us updated,

Congratulations, but i dont think that people should stop eating anything with nuts in them or get their pubic hairs lasered off just for no outbreaks...

Congratulations, but i dont think that people should stop eating anything with nuts in them or get their pubic hairs lasered off just for no outbreaks... In my opinion you should really do everything you can to stop the outbreaks and the virus from reproducing. Giving up Walnuts, peanuts and others was an easy trade for less outbreaks, if you don’t think so and want to give the virus what it needs to wreak havoc on your body, then go for it. My advice was for those that want to lessen their outbreaks.

Answer:
you're right, gymmonster, that cutting down on foods high in arginine can help limit outbreaks. some people have to go to different extremes than others, though. i can't imagine cutting out "all corn derived products." sure, i'll cut out nuts almost entirely, but i'm sure you're well aware how many products say on the label that they are manufactured in the same place as nuts, so may contain traces of nuts. and i'm sure you're also aware how many products are made from corn syrup and corn starch. for many people this is a HUGE step to cut out all those products entirely, especially in the united states. while many artificial products contain vegetable syrup in europe, in the states they contain corn syrup. many people can even taste the difference.

so the solution, then, would be to move mallorca! :D

i understand that you feel that cutting out all these products from your diet is the right thing for you, but it may be far too much of a change for others.

Answer:
i havent changed my diet at all, i still drink, smoke and generally burn the candle at both ends..

im not sure what triggers my outbreaks if im honest, i think my outbreaks are stress related, as i have noticed when ive had one usually got sumfin worrying me.

Answer:
i understand that you feel that cutting out all these products from your diet is the right thing for you, but it may be far too much of a change for others. I completely agree, I can only offer my experience with the disease and my observations of what works for me. It blows me away at how different this disease can be in different people, and I understand that what works for me may not work for others, both on a practical and physical level. Being a fitness and gym nut, I am used to strict diet routines, so it’s not a problem for me to read labels and do without. I have Jack LaLanne’s Power Juicer, so I make my own power drinks and I know what is in them. You have to decide how you want to live with this disease, live with the outbreaks and eat whatever you want, or change what you eat so that you can eliminate outbreaks. If you love food and having oozing sores on your body is not a problem then you have my full support, I’m serious about that. Do what makes you happy, that’s what life is about.

Gutted,
LOL, you made me laugh! You are a good example of what I am talking about, for me if I drink alcohol it will trigger an outbreak, especially if I get drunk, then I can plan on a huge outbreak. Only massive sorrow and stress can trigger an outbreak, not every day stress. I had a close friend and business associate die at a critical time in our business dealings, he was on his way up to visit and had a heart attack and died just as he stepped off the plane. That triggered the worst Herpes outbreak I ever had, the patch of blisters was not even in the normal area, I had a huge sore under my balls and all over between my legs, I couldn’t even walk it hurt so bad, raw skin rubbing against raw skin. Very sad time, so you can see how different we all are and how different this disease can operate in our bodies.

Answer:
no one can consider themselves lucky with this, but i do seem lucky in the essense my OB are rare and mild.

i really feel for peeps like youself, who have constant bad outbreaks and have to watch everything you do to try and control them.

the first outbreak was bad, well it was 10 times worse then the ob i get now, however ive got nothing to guage it to so cant be sure how bad mine really are.

when i do have an OB, i get one or two little pimples, abit like zits, i dab abit of cream on them and they go in a couple of days.

either way, its not the OB that make me feel bad, its the fact its incurable and i have to tell any future partners..

the stigma of it all is the worse thing, as uneducated people think im an ex herion addict or a male slag and probs deserve what i have, they think im dirty or stupid things like that

hence the reason only two people know - my ex gf, who seems to not have got it off me alltho we was having unprotected sex all the time, (we was together 7 years) and now my new gf, who likes me enuff to take the risk.

ive been lucky finding a new partner, but i also feel for the people who stay away from intimacy out of fear of being rejected.

all i hope for is

PLEASE SCIENTISTS FIND A CURE.

Answer:
Damn... and I was popping popcorn like crazy with my young son at the movies... no wonder my OB's taking such a long time to clear up!
